    Sousuke & Gauron - FMP [1]

    I'm not just voting for him being my nom. Sousuke and Gauron have a long history. When Sousuke was a child soldier Gauron was an enemy who Sousuke fought and eventually shot in the head....... except he had a metal plate in his head and like a bad super villain Sousuke hadn't actually checked to make sure the guy was dead. He then becomes the main antagonist for the first season as well as the one behind the enemies of another season and both times he's shown dying so this guy seriously doesn't like staying down.

    He's a rival because he's a soldier just like Sousuke but he's more of an arch enemy since they are always on opposite sides and Gauron is the greatest soldier Sousuke ever fights. He's strong, ruthless, and a bit crazy and to make it worse he seems a bit obsessed with Sousuke a few times likely due to the fact he's a war monger and Sousuke is a talented soldier.

    Ash and Gary on the other hand are really just nostalgia. I say this because out of all the seasons there are Gary is only really a rival for the first one and is a trainer for one or two others before he quits the whole thing to be a scientist. So they are nostalgic rivals but Gary gave it all up long ago.

    I just feel those two share more of a connection. Both pairings argue and fight a great deal but at points work together for a common goal like good rivals. But I just feel Momiji and Ichiko have a stronger connection.
