PlayStation Japan began streaming trailers for Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 (Rockman X Anniversary Collections). The videos show footage from the games that make up the collection. The both videos also show footage from the MegaMan Maverick Hunter X: The Day of Sigma original video anime.

The collections will launch in the West on July 24 and in Japan on July 26. They will be available separately for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC as digital-only games. CAPCOM will also offer a physical two-pack for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. While the PS4 and Xbox One physical editions will have a disc for each collection, the Switch version will have a cartridge for Collection 1 and a download code for Collection 2.

    Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 features Mega Man X, X2, X3, and X4, while Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 features X5, X6, X7, and X8.

Boss characters will join forces and attack in the new X Challenge mode. Other features will include a Museum mode, Music Player, Gallery, Trailer Theater, Goods Catalog, and the MegaMan Maverick Hunter X: The Day of Sigma original video anime, which was a bonus with the Mega Man Maverick Hunter X game for PlayStation Portable.

The collections' graphics options will let players play with the original pixel graphics, smoother updated graphics, or CRT-style graphics for the first six games. X7 and X8 will also be available with higher resolution.

CAPCOM released the latest game in the main series, Mega Man 10, in 2010. CAPCOM previously announced plans to release the Mega Man 11 game for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in late 2018. The company will also release Mega Man Collection 1 and Mega Man Collection 2 for Nintendo Switch on May 22.
