The official website for Compile Heart's Kangokutō Mary Skelter 2 PlayStation 4 game announced on Friday that the game's release date has been delayed to July 12 due to "various circumstances." The game was originally slated to ship on June 28.

Compile Heart will release free content for the game as an apology for the delayed release. The additional content includes a PS4 menu theme based on the "academy adventure game" bundled with the main game, swimsuit costumes for all the characters, and additional job costumes for the characters for the remake of the Mary Skelter: Nightmares that is also bundled with the main game. The PS4 menu theme will be available in the next few days. The site will reveal when the swimsuit costumes will be available at a later date. The job costumes will be included with the main game release.

Like the first game, the sequel is a collaboration between Dengeki Bunko, Dengeki Playstation, and Compile Heart. Minutes light novel author Yomoji Otono is returning to write the story, and Dakei Naname (Death end re;Quest) is returning to design the characters. Musical group Earphones is working with composer J. A. Seazer(Revolutionary Girl Utena) to perform the opening theme song "Witchcraft (Theofil no Kiseki)." Earphones is working with RUI & ROLLY to perform the ending theme song "Mirai Dorobō."

    The game stars:
    Other cast members include:
The game's limited edition retails for 10,476 yen (about US$98), and the standard edition retails for 7,776 yen (about US$73). The limited edition features a package designed by Naname, a 21-song soundtrack CD, a special book, a bath poster, a calendar, a CD-ROM with setting documents, and original PC and smartphone wallpapers.

Those who pre-order the game will receive a bonus fully voiced "academy adventure game."

The game will also include a remake of the original Mary Skelter: Nightmares game.

Mary Skelter: Nightmares (Kangokutō Mary Skelter) launched on the PlayStation Vita in Japan in October 2016. Idea Factory International describes the story:

The Jail suddenly appeared a number of years ago, sinking the city deep into the ground. There, the Jail had power over eerie creatures called "Marchens."
Within the prison was a boy named Jack - living a life of suffering, tortured day in and day out, in a world where all dreams, hopes, peace, and humanity had been lost for as long as the people could remember.
Then one day, amidst the darkness that prevailed, a girl who called herself a member of the Blood Team came and rescued Jack from the prison. This marked the beginning of fate - of Jack's and the Blood Maidens' escape from the Jail...
Jack and the Blood Team will face countless perils in regaining all that has been lost, to finally escape once and for all!

Idea Factory International released the game in North America and Europe in September 2017.
