    Konbanwa Mina-san!

    It's time for Lesson #1!!

This lesson will cover the Hiragana for writing a-e-i-o-u, some more vocabulary words, some new phrases, and the usage of desu! Hajimemashou!

    Example Words:

    Baby: あkachan
    Ecchi: えcchi
    Dog: いnu
    Demon (Oni): おni
    Cow: うshi

    Desu and Ka:

Desu has multiple meanings that change with the context of a sentence. It can mean "I am", "it is", "we are", "he is", etc.. Desu is placed at the end of sentences and sometime accompanied by a 'ka'. Ka turns normal sentences into questions.

    For example:

    Romaji:
    Inu desu.
    Inu desu ka.

    Translation:
    It's a dog.
    Is it a dog?

Notice that the ending punctuation is still a period (or usually a 。) and that there is no question mark. It's completely normal to see a sentence without a question mark and have it be a question. The key particle to look out for is the 'ka'.

    New Phrases:

    wakarimasu. - I understand.
wakarimasu ka. - Do you understand?
    iie, wakarimasen. - No, I don't understand.
hai, wakarimasu. - Yes, I understand.

    New Vocabulary:
    あnata - you
    nani - what
    haい - yes
    いいえ - no
    いnu - dog
    おni - demon
    あkachan - baby
    うshi - cow
    おkaあsan - mother
    いえ - house
    おtoうsan - father
    あkaい - red
    いmoうto - younger sister
    うsagi - rabbit
    えnpitsu - pencil
    おneえsan - elder sister
    おmoshiroい - interesting
    いsu - chair
    おkiru - to wake up
    え - picture/painting
    いい - good
    あい - love
    あお - blue
    kaえru - frog

    Practice:

As always I encourage you to practice reviewing the vocabulary whenever you have free time and now also to practice recognizing the hiragana characters. Below I have captured some images and will test your mettle! Try your best to answer all of the question before going to other sources ;D (they should all be answerable from this lesson and/or any previous lessons). Please post the (a) proper response to the images below since practice helps make perfect! (in spoilers)

@Blazer Hope you don't mind if I add this

I know its not very important on the computer since you can just type the hiragana but if you plan on writing it out (which you should be doing), there are specific stroke orders to each hiragana. Here are the A-I-U-E-O

    No problem....

Also, I think I'm dumb cause I don't understand the exercise lol Would the answers be:
    1)いいえ、いぬです。
    2)はい、かえるです。
    3)いいえ、わかりません。
    4)はい、いもうとです。
    5)おねえさんです。

I think I did the first 3 right but I'm not sure about the last 2 and if I did it all wrong, could you do an example with the first one or with another image? Also, I know all my answers are in hiragana but if thats not permitted I can change it, its just that I found it easier to write it like that than to switch between English and Japanese lol

    Hehe. You all hiragana'er you!
#5 if supposed to be referring to the hand :D
#3 was an attempt at what type of ears are they (the animal - nani mimi/what ears? something like that)
I might have made it a little confusing I suppose :D
