The staff of the live-action film adaptation of Daruma Matsuura's Kasane manga revealed two cast members and the film's director on Friday.

Tao Tsuchiya (left in picture below) will play Nina Tanzawa, as well as Kasane with Nina's face. Kyōko Yoshine (right) will play protagonist Kasane, as well as Nina with Kasane's face. The plot involves the two characters trading faces through the power of a magical tube of lipstick.

Yūichi Satō (live-action Nōnai Poison Berry, Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru) is directing the film, which will open in Japan in 2018.

Kodansha Comics began releasing the manga digitally in English on May 30. The company describes the story:

Kasane's face is so hideous, you couldn't bear to look twice at her—and her ugliness has forced her to walk a harsh path in life. But her mother left her something: a tube of lipstick. The power of this lipstick will change everything about her downtrodden life.

Matsuura launched the ongoing series in Kodansha's Evening magazine in April 2013 as her debut work, and Kodansha published the 11th compiled volume on June 23. The manga was nominated for the Kodansha Manga Awards and the Manga Taisho Award in 2015.
