Just over a year ago, composer Henry Jackman let slip his impression that a sequel to Disney Animation's hit Wreck-It Ralph was in the works. All was quiet after that, but now John C. Reilly - the voice of Ralph himself - has revealed at the Galway Film Fleadh that he's officially signed up forWreck-It Ralph 2.

The first slice of 8-bit adventure grossed $471m worldwide, a more than respectable return on its $150m+ budget. It wowed nostalgic gamers and dazzled kids, with its story of a video-game villain questioning his place in the gaming universe and wondering if, perhaps, there isn’t more to life than smashing up buildings and being repeatedly bested by squeaky-clean hero Fix-It Felix, Jr. (Jack McBrayer). In cohoots with Sarah Silverman’s Vanellope von Schweetz, he sets off on a life-changing adventure across numerous gaming worlds.

The rumour mill suggests that Disney have been having talks with Nintendo about including Mario & Luigi and Link from the Zelda games in the follow-up, but whether anything has yet come of that is unclear. There are also no details of any plot or personnel apart from Reilly and Jackman. But director Rich Moore's next film, Zootopia, is out in March. Once he's finished with that, could a return to Ralph's pixellated world(s) be next?

Run by Jews I say. Frozen 2 is also green-lit.
