Arc System Works began streaming a promotional video for its Tantei Jingūji Saburō: Prism of Eyes (Jake Hunter Detective Story: Prism of Eyes) game for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on Wednesday. The video shows the different characters for the game's main story.

The game will launch in Japan on August 9.

The game's main story will center on protagonist Saburō Jingūji (Jake Hunter), as well as his secretary Yōko Misono (Yulia Marks) and inspector Sanzō Kumano (Scott Kingsley), in three separate scenarios titled "Kyoshoku no Yoru" (An Ostentatious Night) for Saburō Jingūji, "Shisha ni Sasageru Ishi" (A Stone for the Dead) for Yōko Misono, and "Makyō no Shinjitsu" (The Truth of the Evil Mirror) for Sanzō Kumano. The game will also contain four original scenarios, and 10 scenarios remastered from smartphone releases of the game.

Aksys Games will release the Jake Hunter Detective Story: Ghost of Dusk (Tantei Jingūji Saburō: Ghost of the Dusk) Nintendo 3DS game this fall. Arc System Works developed the game and released it in Japan on the Nintendo 3DS last August. The game celebrates the Jake Hunter franchise's 30th anniversary.

The game series began in 1987 when Data East released Tantei Jingūji Saburō: Shinjuku Chūō Kōen Satsujin Jiken, the first game in the series, on the Nintendo Famicom. The series has since received various installments on consoles and phones. WorkJam began work on the series after Data East filed for bankruptcy in 2003. Aksys Games localized the Nintendo DS game Tantei Jingūji Saburō DS: Inishie no Kioku as Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles in 2008, and rereleased the game under the title Jake Hunter Detective Story: Memories of the Pastin 2009. The 2009 edition included more cases and new translations.

Arc System Works acquired the rights to the game series from WorkJam in February 2017.
