The September issue of Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine revealed on Thursday that The irregular at magic high school The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars (Gekijōban Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Hoshi o Yobu Shōjo) anime film will get a manga adaptation that will begin serialization in the magazine's next issue on August 26. Pinakes will draw the manga.

The film opened in Japan on June 17 and sold about 107,000 tickets during its opening weekend to earn about 163 million yen (about US$1.47 million) and debut #5 at the Japanese box office. The film surpassed 500 million yen (about US$4.46 million) by July 18.

Aniplex of America describes the film:

Many months have passed and the spring season is almost upon them. The “irregular” elder brother Tatsuya and his smart younger sister Miyuki realize that their first year at Magic High School is about to come to a close. The siblings and their friends decide to spend spring break at a private villa on Ogasawara Island. Tatsuya and the others make the most of their brief vacation until a young girl named Kokoa appears before them. The mysterious young girl who escaped from a naval base tells Tatsuya her one wish...

Aniplex of America hosted the U.S. premiere of the film at Anime Expo, which was held at Los Angeles Convention Center on July 1-4. The company will host a wider screening of the film in the U.S. starting on Friday.

Pinakes drew the manga adaptation of the Aldnoah.Zero television anime based on the anime's first season. The manga launched in Hobunsha's Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine in May 2014, and concluded in 2015 with four volumes. Yen Press released all four volumes in English.

Yen Press licensed the original The Irregular at Magic High School light novel series and the spinoff manga The Honor Student at Magic High School. The light novel also has a separate manga by Tsuna Kitaumi that launched in Square Enix's G Fantasy magazine 2011.
