Bandai Namco Entertainment began streaming an announcement video on Sunday for the second season of the IDOLiSH7 television anime.

The anime studio TROYCA is returning for the second season.

The advance screening version of the IDOLiSH7 television anime's first two episodes opened in 79 theaters in Japan and began streaming in Japan on November 3. Crunchyroll began streaming the episodes worldwide outside of Asia on the same day. The first two episodes also screened early at Anime NYC in the United States on November 18. The first two episodes then aired together as a special that premiered on Tokyo MX on January 1 at 8:00 p.m. The remaining 15 of the 17 episodes began airing in Japan on January 7.

    Crunchyroll describes the series:

A group of aspiring idols gather at Takanashi Productions and are entrusted with the company's future. The seven men who have just met represent a variety of totally different personalities. However, they each have their own charm and possess unknown potential as idols. Forming a group, they take their first step together as "IDOLiSH7." Their brilliantly shining dancing forms onstage eventually begin captivating the hearts of the people. In the glorious but sometimes harsh world of idols, they aim for the top with dreams in their hearts!

The cast members for the IDOLiSH7 and TRIGGER idol groups reprised their roles from the game for the first anime season. Makoto Bessho (Shangri-La, Armitage: Dual-Matrix) directed the season at TROYCA. Ayumi Sekine (Makura no Danshi, Fate/Grand Order: First Order) supervised the anime's scripts. Kazumi Fukagawa(Inari Kon Kon, GLASSLIP animation director) adapted Arina Tanemura's original character designs for animation. Ei Aoki (Fate/Zero, Aldnoah.Zero) was credited as supervisor.

The IDOLiSH7 Vibrato spinoff series of net anime shorts launched in February.
