The August issue of Shueisha's Ribon magazine revealed on July 3 that Moe Yukimaru and Haru Karuki will both launch new manga series in the magazine's next issue on August 5. Yukimaru's new series is titled Hidamari no Tsuki, while Karuki's new series is titled Mimitsuki no Kuro.

Yukimaru described Hidamari no Tsuki as a story about a girl with a boy classmate who becomes her younger brother. Yukimaru drew an illustration to commemorate the launch of the manga.

Yukimaru launched her Hiyokoi manga series in Ribon in December 2009, and ended it in November 2014. Shueisha published 14 compiled book volumes for the manga. The manga inspired an anime adaptation for the The "Natsu Doki– Ribon–kko Party 5" event in 2010. She launched her Suisai manga in Ribon in August 2015, and ended it on February 5. Shueisha published the fourth and final compiled book volume on March 24.

The magazine describes Mimitsuki no Kuro as centering on a girl who becomes the master of a man with animal ears who cannot survive without human affection. Karuki posted the teaser visual for the manga (seen left) on Twitter.

Karuki launched the Rozen Maiden dolls talk spinoff of Peach-Pit's Rozen Maiden manga in December 2011, and ended it in March 2014. Shueisha published three compiled book volumes for the manga. Peach-Pit's original Rozen Maiden manga series ran from 2002 to 2007 in Gentosha's Monthly Comic Birz magazine and continued in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine from 2008 to 2014. Tokyopop once published the Rozen Maiden manga in North America.
