New anime to feature one cast member voicing all roles for streaming, Blu-ray
Multimedia studio Tetra announced via a YouTube video on Thursday that Higanjima X, its short anime adaptation of Kōji Matsumoto's vampire manga franchise Higanjima (Nirvana Island), will get a "special chapter." As with the previous anime shorts, the new anime will debut online, and will again feature one voice actor voicing all characters in an episode. Tetra will announce the streaming details and cast at a later date.

The website's announcement for the new anime links to the August 30 Blu-ray release of the entire series, which lists "brand-new animation with a new voice cast member" as one of its bonuses.

[IMG]Ryōsuke Aoike returns as director at Tetra and Fever Creations, and Mitsuhiro Taniguchi also returns for series composition and as executive producer. Misaki Ōhira is once again designing the characters.

The 12-episode Higanjima X anime premiered in October 2016, and ended last March. Each of the anime's episode told a self-contained, stand-alone story, adapting key scenes and dialogue from the manga while adding some original elements. Each episode had only one voice cast member, who voiced all of that episode's character roles. The voice cast changed every three episodes; Sho Hayami voiced all the character roles in the first to third episodes, Shigeru Chiba in the first fourth to sixth episodes, Tomokazu Seki in the seventh to ninth episodes, and Kouichi Yamadera in the 10th to 12th episodes.

The Higanjima franchise includes three manga series, two live-action films, and two live-action drama series. The second live-action film titled Higanjima Deluxe opened in Japan in October 2016.

The story of the original manga follows a man named Akira, who is in the midst of the final battle between the human race and vampires. He only has 47 days until Japan is turned into an island of vampires.
