Media news website Natalie began streaming four minutes of footage from the live-action film adaptation of Yuki Fumino's Hidamari ga Kikoeru (I Hear the Sunspot) boys-love manga on Saturday. The clip shows how the main characters Kōhei Sugihara and Taiichi Sagawa.

The film opens in Japan on June 24.

The film will star Hideya Tawada as Kōhei Sugihara and Akira Onodera as Taiichi Sagawa. Ryō Mitsuya will play Yoko. Other cast members include Ami Yamazaki, Miyu Ōsaka, Hiroe Igeta, Rima Matsuda, Yūki Fukumoto, Tsubasa Shimada, Hideyuki Araki, Anna Kijima, Suzuno Nomura, Norihisa Hiranuma, Shinshō Nakamura, and Reiko Takashima.

Daisuke Kamijō is directing the film.

The manga revolves around Kōhei Sugihara, a college student who has distanced himself from others unconsciously because he is hard of hearing and it keeps causing one misunderstanding after another. One day his classmate Taiichi stumbles into him and notices his delicious bento. Kōhei gives Taiichi part of his lunch, to Taiichi's delight, but leaves without saying a word to Taiichi. Taiichi only later finds out from others that Kōhei is hard of hearing. Taiichi has a bright personality to the point of foolishness, and he tells Kōhei, "It's not your fault that you can't hear!" Those words save Kōhei, and he begins to change. Taiichi and Kōhei begin a relationship that's more than friends, but less than lovers.

Hidamari ga Kikoeru is Fumino's debut work, and it launched in Printemps Shuppan's Canna magazine in 2013. Printemps Publishing released the one-volume manga in October 2014, and released a sequel volume titled Hidamari ga Kikoeru: Kōfuku-ron in May 2016.
