Harrison Ford's back in the hat as Disney makes a new Indiana Jones official

Harrison Ford. Steven Spielberg. Indiana Jones. They're back. Yes, despite recent rumours that Ford might be handing the hat to someone new, Disney has officially announced a fifth Indy film.

Yes, all jokes aside about "there was a fourth?", it's good news for those hoping that Spielberg and Ford would give it one more crack of the whip. “Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” says Disney chairman Alan Horn in the announcement. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.” No mention is made of the plot this time, though we can only assume that George Lucas has pulled the giant lever on his Wheel Of MacGuffins and found something suitable to make Jones' life problematic this time. Actually, his name doesn't come up at all, but regular producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall are involved.

So you can now put aside fears that Shia LaBeouf might actually take over the series. Though we wouldn't rule out him doing his own Jones film as an art project. We can picture him now, playing an alien Indy running around in a building, scaring people for no damned reason.

The proper new Indiana Jones is currently targeting a release date of July 19, 2019.

Ah here's the thread regarding this movie.

    My thoughts

And that sums up what I think of Disney these days.
