Haikyu!! Season 3 Slated to Premiere on October 7

    This year's 39th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that the third Haikyu!! television anime season will premiere on October 7. The Haikyu!! Karasuno Kōkō VS Shiratorizawa Gakuen Kōkō (Haikyu!! Karasuno High vs Shiratorizawa Academy) anime will run on the MBS, TBS, CBC, RKB Mainichi Broadcasting, HBC, TBC (Tohoku Broadcasting Co., Ltd.), and BS-TBS channels. The staff will announce the precise airing times and other details in the future.

    The 33rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump revealed the cast for the Shiratorizawa team in July:

    Subaru Kimura as Satori Tendō​
    Shimba Tsuchiya as Tsutomu Goshiki​
    Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Kenjirō Shirabu​
    Teruyuki Tanzawa as Reon Ōhira​
    Takuma Terashima as Eita Semi​
    Kenji Fukuda as Hayato Yamakata​
    Daiki Ōmori as Taichi Kawanishi​
    Ryota Takeuchi as Wakatoshi Ushijima​

    Ryusei Nakao will play Tanji Washijō, the coach of Shiratorizawa Academy.

    The anime's official website previously streamed a promotional video last Friday.

    The staff is returning from the first two seasons. Susumu Mitsunaka is again directing the series at Production I.G with assistant director Mariko Ishikawa. Taku Kishimoto is handling series composition and Takahiro Kishidais designing the characters. Yuuko Yahiro is joining Takahiro Chiba as a chief animation director. Hiromi Kikuta is serving as sound director and Yuuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana are composing the music. Burnout Syndromes is performing the opening theme song "Hikariare," and NICO TOUCHES THE WALLS is performing the ending theme song "Mashi Mashi."

    The first anime season premiered in April 2014. The second season premiered in October 2015. Sentai Filmworks has licensed and released the first season on home video, and has also licensed the second season. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons as they aired.

    The anime franchise also received two compilation anime films in July and September of last year.

    Viz Media published the first volume of the original manga in North America on July 5.​
