The official Japanese PlayStation website announced on Thursday that online service for the Gravity Rush 2 (titled Gravity Daze 2 in Japan) game will end on January 19, exactly one year after the game's release. Players will still be able to play offline after online service end.

The features that will end when online support ends are sending and receiving challenges; ranked leaderboards; sending and receiving Treasure Hints; sending, receiving and reviewing Photo Ghosts; and acquiring Dusty Tokens and their rewards. An in-game event will offer increased drop rates for Dusty Tokens until online service ends. Players can use the in-game currency to receive costumes, talismans, and other rewards.

The game shipped on January 18 in Europe, January 19 in Japan, and January 20 in North America after a delay. The developers released a planned premium DLC for the game for free due to the delay. The free DLC "Another Story: The Ark of Time — Raven's Choice" debuted in March.

The game received a prequel "special animation" by Khara, the studio behind the new Evangelion films. Gravity Rush: The Animation - Overture bridges the gap between the original Gravity Rush and the sequel.

The game's four-minute live-action "Gravity Cat" promotional video won the Gold Pencil award for direction in the Moving Image Craft division in the One Show 2017 advertising awards in May.
