The official website for Koji Morimoto and Gonzo's 18if television animerevealed the cast for 11 witches on Tuesday. The anime's official Twitter account describes the witches as "key characters" in the anime.

The cast members for the witches are:
Shiho Nanba will also play an unnamed witch.

    The anime stars:
    • Nobunaga Shimazaki (Date A Live's Shido Itsuka) as Haruto Tsukishiro, a young man who wakes up in a dream world and sees a mysterious girl named Lily. He meets Kanzaki, learns of the existence of a witch, and gets involved in various incidents.

    • Takehito Koyasu (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's Dio) as Katsumi Kanzaki, a scientist who researches the dream world. Haruto calls him Professor. He takes an interest in Haruto's ability to see Lily and gets Haruto involved in his research. While he normally keeps his hair messy and wears sandals with a lab coat, his diver form appears as a gentlemanly cat.

    • Kaori Nazuka (Code Geass' Nunnally) as Lily, a girl only Haruto can see in his dreams. She often appears around him and calls him "big brother."
Morimoto (Magnetic Rose, Extra, Beyond) is credited as chief supervisor on the anime, and Gonzo is producing the animation. Each episode will have a different director, one of whom will be Akira Nishimori (Zombie-Loan). Atsuhiro Tomioka (Ace Attorney, Zombie-Loan) is handling series composition, Hiroko Kazui is serving as design director, and Tadashi Oppata (Memories Off 2nd) is designing the characters. Ryūdai Abe (Spochan Taiketsu! ~Yōkai Daikessen~) is composing the music. Additional staff members include:
The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX on July 7 at 10:00 p.m., followed by AT-X on July 8 at 9:00 p.m., and BS Fuji on July 10 at 24:00 (effectively July 11 at 12:00 a.m.). FUNimation Entertainment has licensed the series.

The Art of 18 is a multimedia franchise that currently includes mobcast's 18: Kimi to Tsunagaru Puzzle (18: A Puzzle Connecting to You) "mysterious puzzle RPG" smartphone game. The game is already available for Android and iOS devices in Japan. GameSamba released an English version under the title 18: Dream World for Android in October and iOS in February.

The project also includes game creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Rez, Lumines, Child of Eden) as another principal creator.
