Sorry for preempting the topic but I couldn't wait :)
Okay I'm interested now. This may not be half bad, at least it looks like they spent a budget on this one

Wouldn't be the first time I would be disappointed. I got a good feeling this time however. I think this might just work. Sci-fi always gets a bonus and if they get creative with the cyborg stuff then the art factor alone would make it unique.

I don't know guys. I don't exactly share your enthusiasm. So far they've fucked up a lot of shows that were fairly easy to do with modern CGI. Dragon BallZ, Blood + (Disastrous even though it was simple{renamed Blood: The Last Vampire}), Witchblade, Death Note was terrible, Parasyte was a fail, Rorouni Kenshi could have been much better.

Let's face it. Because most of these directors don't actually know the anime or manga, they fuck it up. Or because they don't have the budget, the fuck it up.

GitS looks like it has the budget, but lets face it. Most of us who watched the show and the movies, already know they done fucked things up. "First of your kind" bullshit. Motoko was not the first of her kind. She is the oldest of her kind, but not the first. Batou looks to be accurate though.

I'll end up doing to this movie like I do with all movies. I'll watch it, I'll critique it, If I like it I'll watch it again, but if I hate it, I'll post my review, tear it apart, and throw it away never to watch it again. I did just that with Star Wars. I won't even watch the sequels because they done fucked it up. But then again, what did we expect from Disney?

Well......I don't know......we'll see how it does in the box office but I think the trailer was just another one of Hollywood's failed attempts to reinvent the wheel, which is something you DO NOT DO with anime, unless you are trying to bring something good out of a shitty anime, which always fails!!!

i saw the trailer in theaters but i cant say im excited or happy, the trailer is obviously trying to be a GITS 1 but to what extent, i cant tell. Its obvious they are not going to be doing the "making of an android" scene and they definitely dont have the music to outdo the original. I say i will watch it, but i have mixed feelings about this being made

One movie that I believe that has been made fantastic from a book was Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. But since you weren't dealing with an actual story, there isn't much to mess with.

Historically speaking, Hollywood messes up Anime/Manga based movies. I've quoted enough movies that they have messed up as it is. I'm on a "wait and see" status right now. Once I see it, I'll be posting my own critique here on the forum and open it up to discussion.
