The Chaos Dragon cast, under ADR director Felecia Angelle, assistant ADR director Mike McFarland, lead ADR engineer Kevin Ussery, head writer John Burgmeier, and script writer Clifford Chapin, includes:
Funimation will release the series on a Blu-ray Disc and DVD combo pack on November 15.

    The company describes the show:
The island of Nil Kamui is caught between the war of Kouran and D'natia, two powerful warring countries. When Kouran makes moves to claim the island, there is nothing the people of Nil Kamui can do to stop them. The guardian dragon of the country, Red Dragon, has gone insane and provides them no help, and even a treaty with D'natia provides them with little aid. The small island loses all its independence and becomes divided.

Amidst the war, royal descendant Ibuki loses his entire family to an attack by Kouran soldiers. Haunted by the tragedy, he denies the throne, thinking that Nil Kamui will be better off without a king. However, when tensions rise and the rebel army of Nil Kamui attacks Kouran soldiers, Ibuki finds himself bound to the Red Dragon as a child of contract. With this contract, he will have the powers of Red Dragon when he calls upon him. But there's a catch. To use this immense power, he must offer an equivalent exchange the life of someone precious to him. Can Ibuki handle the weight of sacrificing a life in exchange for power? Or is the only way to obtain peace to destroy the Red Dragon?

The anime premiered in July 2015. Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

The project is based on Red Dragon, the "role-playing fiction" story born from the tabletop role-playing game sessions by five prominent anime, game, and art creators. The five Red Dragon participants were Gen Urobuchi (Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero), Kinoko Nasu (Kara no Kyōkai - the Garden of sinners, Fate/stay night, Lunar Legend Tsukihime), Izuki Kōgyoku(Mimizuku to Yoru no Ō, Mama, Garden Lost), Simadoriru (illustrator), and Ryohgo Narita (Baccano!, Durarara!!). Each participant created a character to guide through six nights of tabletop role-playing game sessions devised by "fiction master" Makoto Sanda (Rental Magica,Record of Lodoss War).

The website Sai-zen-sen serialized the compiled transcripts of the Red Dragon role-playing sessions.

Masato Matsune (Fate/Prototype CG supervisor, Meganebu! opening storyboarder and animation director) directed the television anime at SILVERLINK./CONNECT. Team Barrel Roll's Ukyō Kodachi (Neppu Kairiku Bushi Road, Macross Frontier novels) was in charge of the series scripts with assistance by Shou Aikawa(Fullmetal Alchemist, Ghost Slayers Ayashi, EUREKA SEVEN AO).

Ellation's VRV platform is launching later this year. The platform will offer content from Ellation's own anime-focused Crunchyroll, as well as Funimation, Cartoon Hangover, Rooster Teeth, Seeso, Nerdist Alpha, Geek & Sundry Alpha, Tested, RiffTrax, CollegeHumor, Machinima, GINX eSports TV, Shudder, and MONDO.

Each VRV channel will have both a free ad-supported subscription and premium paid subscription with ad-free content. Users will also have the option subscribe to individual channels within VRV, or a bundle of channels at a discounted price. Only some of VRV's channels will be included in the bundle, but VRV has not yet announced which channels they will be.

Crunchyroll emphasized that its standalone service will remain, even as it becomes available as a channel on VRV. Some content and channels, such as Cartoon Hangover, will be available exclusively through VRV, although exclusive content will be determined by individual content providers.

Crunchyroll and Funimation announced a partnership earlier this month that includes cross-streaming opportunities, Broadcast Dub production, and home video distribution. The partnership is currently limited to the United States and Canada.
