Have you heard of Did You Know Gaming? Well this is the same thing but for anime. Post any anime trivia you want. It can be about specific characters, shows, franchises, ect.

Please post "Did you know?" in bold and underline at the start of your post so that people skimming through can easily pick out the trivia posts from reply posts. You can do other things to make your trivia more noticeable like adding a pic related to the trivia in question. But as a bare minimum you must are least post that phrase in bold underline. Also be sure to center the entire post.

Lastly remember to include spoiler tags for any trivia that spoils anything plot significant.

Freeza's father King Cold is actually a mutant. While it is still unknown what members of their race are normally like, the high power levels and cruelty of Freeza's family are not traits of their species like it was for races like the sayans.

I was always more of a Cell fan than Freeza so I don't remember too much about that character. More accurately I was only a casual watcher of DragonBall so I don't remember seeing any arc all the way through.
    Guess I'll leave some trivia.

That before showing all major plot points in shounen series openings became normal [I'm looking at you Fairy Tail, One Piece and the like] that Digimon Adventure was a huge offender for this. Apart from revealing the champion stages of the main cast in the opening, the second end theme also revealed exactly who the 8th Digidestined and their partner was when the villain only just headed to earth in the 27th episode to look for them. No need for children of Japan to wonder who it is, the end theme confirmed any thoughts for kids that had suspicions about what was hinted at earlier. It wasn't even subtly shown but plastered throughout the entire ed theme consistently

Man that's bad. With Fairy Tail, Once Piece, etc most of the stuff in the opening and ending are teasers, as in some major plot points may be hinted at but normally not too much is outright shown so that people know what has been spoiled. But that is just horrible considering how important that plot point was. Then again maybe they figured no child had the attention span to actually pay attention to the ending credits.

Actually FT's and OP's openings are really bad at the moment, I haven't been too surprised by anything in FT for the last several themes and OP has most of their points shown as well. I find them to be ridiculous ways to introduce those eps.
Anyway regarding this, yeah it is the whole purpose of the next arc to completely finish up the current one and yet they shown who hey were like it was nothing. This ed theme came in even before they heard the way to get back themselves. I'm not sure if it was bad timing or what but it really doesn't make sense to have them shown with the evolution as well this early.

Naruto's original concept, which was published by Masashi Kishimoto in 1997, was far different from the overpowered Ninja shonen it is now. The original plot had Naruto as the actual son of the Ninetails (He only appeared human because of shape shifting powers) and the leader of the village was the last survivor of 9 great Ninja who fought the Nintails. It also seems that it may have been intended to be a crime solving manga as the first chapter involved a murder and finding the suspect. Lastly while a single Ninja village did exist the story was apparently meant to take place in a modern city

So that is what Naruto could have been huh, a crime solving son of the fox saga. I'm not sure what to really think about that.

That an anime appears briefly in the American TV show Malcolm in the Middle's credits. Okay chances are you did, but does anyone actually know the name of this show? I came across it recently, the show is called Jikuu Tenshou Nazca or in english Dimension Movement of Nazca. It is a series from 1998 about
"Miura Kyoji, a dedicated kendo student, discovers that his shisho (master) Tate Masanari is a reincarnated Incan warrior named Yawaru who wishes to destroy the world to purify it. Kyoji himself is the warrior Bilka, who foiled Yawaru's plans in their previous lives. Yawaru gathers other awakened spirits to release the powers of nature. Now Koyji must wrestle with his own fate and decide if he is merely a vessel for the reincarnated soul or if he is truly Miura Kyoji and which will be better able to save the world and the future as he knows it."

It is a little known show, so why is it in the credits of a popular American comedy? According to internet rumours Frankie Muniz voiced one of the characters in the dub. However I can't find any info regarding a dub so I doubt how truthful this part is, although it is on the internet so it has to be true right?
This is the scene in question, I'm sure people should recognise it.

Well keep in mind this was simply a VERY early prototype. Meaning the author was likely just testing out the idea and either due to reader feedback or because he just didn't know where to take it he changed it to have a stronger focus on the Ninja aspect as well as giving Naruto a more relatable back story. But it is still interesting to see where the idea began and how it differed from the final product.

Negima was originally supossed to be a battle manga from the very start. After his best selling work "Love Hina" Ken Akamatsu wanted to do a more battle focused manga. But his publisher wanted another series like Love Hina due to it's massive popularity. In the end he gave it and did the harem comedy that Negima started out as but slowly turned it into the battle manga he always wanted.

I don't even understand why Negima is classified as harem on MAL.

Because he's surrounded by girls (His students) and most of them are either in love or interested in him to some degree. The harem element is weakened when the action elements get stronger but it never completely goes away.

If Negima didn't count as harem then what would?

Three students are in love with him (I'm not counting Ayaka), but besides they're all more or less close friends.

no others besides those three at least have crushes on him, although a good few either move past their crushes or are simply forgotten by the plot eventually, plus he's still surrounded by girls. In any case three girls being in love with him is plenty to count as a harem by itself.

The Great Naruto Bridge in Naruto is a reference to a real life bridge with the same name. The real bridge is famous for its whirlpools(also called Uzumaki in Japanese). This is possibly how Naruto Uzumaki the main char in the show got his surname.

warrant officer schrödinger is a reference to Shrödinger's cat which is a thought experiment that has a cat in the box. The idea was that as long as you did not open the box and it had an equal chance of being dead or alive it was both dead and alive until you opened the box due to a part of quantum physics that superimposes multiple states in a closed system (The purpose of this thought experiment was to show the flaw of applying quantum mechanics to the macroscopic scale). This reference is shown not only in his name but his ears as well as his power which allows his to be anywhere as long as he beleives himself to be so and it's even stated that he only exists for as long as he believes himself to. Meaning just like Shrödinger's cat his existence is only defined as long as it is observed (in this case Shrödinger's own observation) as such and even if Schrödinger is fatally wounded, if he believes that he is alive and unscathed, then he will be.

Tsumugu's (Kill la Kill) catchphrase of "two useful pieces of information" could be a reference to Viral (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann), since that was one first things he said to Kamina.

There was an unofficial Dragon Ball GT manga sold in China. Much of the art was either poorly drawn or traced from the Dragon Ball Z and GT anime. Most likely due to its poor quality it stopped at the Baby saga.

Gurren Lagann was the only Gainex series to not feature on screen nudity. When this was discovered, they added scenes to the movies where Yoko's and Nia's breasts were exposed to maintain the tradition.

But wasn't there an alternate version of the shot springs episode that did show nudity?
