    "Hell... It's about time."

In an update on the official StarCraft website, Blizzard detailed the features of the ver. 1.18 patch for StarCraft: Brood War along with an announcement that StarCraft as well as its expansion, Brood War, can now be downloaded and played for free.

This announcement comes on the heels of an announcement that Blizzard will be releasing a remastered version of both the original StarCraft and its expansion in summer of 2017.

This game can be added to the list of Skype Get-Together games now that it's free. Best of all, it's still an awesome game to play.

It's easily one of my favorite games, even today. I still have my original copies.

I'm not sure if Battle.net support still exists for online play.

I think it does, but it's just not supported by the Desktop application, not yet at least. There is also an HD remaster for Starcraft that's supposed to be coming out, so it's possible that they anticipate supporting a classic for at least another year or so, depending on the response for the HD remaster.
