Fuji TV opened a website on Friday to announce that a live-action television series based on Shiori Ōta's Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru (A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako's Feet. or Beautiful Bones -Sakurako's Investigation-) light novel series will premiere in April. Actress Alisa Mizuki (live-action JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's Tomoko Higashikata, pictured above) will star in the series as Sakurako. The drama will mark Mizuki's 30th drama series over 26 consecutive years. Yūichi Satō (Strawberry Night) and Daisuke Yamauchi (Ghostwriter) are directing the series, Junpei Yamaoka (Gin to Kin) is writing the scripts, and Yuugo Kanno (Ajin, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders) is composing the music.

Author Ōta and illustrator Tetsuo's original mystery light novel series revolves around Shōtarō Tatewaki and Sakurako Kujyō. Shōtarō is a normal high school student with a serious demeanor. Sakurako is an extraordinarily beautiful woman in her mid-20s from a rich family who loves "beautiful bones." The two live in the city of Asahikawa in Hokkaido, and they get involved in various incidents regarding bones. Ōta and Tetsuo debuted the series in 2013, and Kadokawa published the 10th novel volume in July. Kadokawa will publish the 11th volume on March 25.

A 12-episode television anime adaptation premiered in October 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired and Sentai Filmworks released the series on home video in North America in January.

Too Mizuguchi launched a manga adaptation of the novels in Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine in July 2015. Kadokawa published the manga's first compiled volume in November 2015.
