This year's 30th issue of Kodansha's Young Magazine revealed on Monday that Tatsuya Shihara will launch a new manga titled Basilisk - Ōka Ninpō-chō (Basilisk - The Ōka Ninja Scrolls) in the 34th issue on July 24. The manga is an adaptation of Masaki Yamada's sequel novels of Masaki Segawa's Basilisk manga. Kodansha published both novels in November and December 2015, with illustrations by Segawa.

The new story is set ten years after the conclusion of the original manga, centering on Hachirō and Hibiki, two elite ninja from the Kōga and Iga clans.

Segawa's original Basilisk manga adapts Futaroh Yamada's 1959 novel The Kouga Ninja Scrolls. The manga inspired a television anime adaptation in 2005 that Funimation released in individual DVDs from 2006 to 2007, and released again on Blu-ray Disc in 2009 and 2015. The novel also inspired a live-action film in 2005 titled SHINOBI - Heart Under Blade.

Shihara previously drew the Robotics;Notes Revival Legacy manga in Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine in 2012.
