Amazon Prime began streaming the Banana Fish and Seven Senses of the Re'Union anime with English subtitles on Thursday.

Banana Fish, an adaptation of Akimi Yoshida's 1985-1994 manga, premiered on Fuji TV's Noitamina block on Thursday. Subsequent episodes will premiere on Amazon in Japan one hour after they air on Fuji TV at 12:55 a.m. The anime will be two cours (two quarters of a year) in length, with 24 episodes, and will adapt the entire manga to the end, changing only the setting to the modern day. The anime will take place in modern day New York, instead of in the 1980s when the original manga took place.

Viz published the manga in English, and it describes the story:

Vice City: New York in the 80s... Nature made Ash Lynx beautiful; nurture made him a cold ruthless killer. A child runaway brought up as the adopted heir, hatchet man, and sex toy of "Papa" Dino Golzine, the East Coast's Corsican crime lord, Ash is now at the rebellious age of seventeen - forsaking the kingdom of power and riches held out by the devil who raised him, preferring a code he can live with among a small but loyal gang of street thugs. But his "Papa" can't simply let him go - not when the hideous secret that drove Ash's older brother mad in Vietnam has suddenly fallen into his insatiably ambitious hands.

It's exactly the wrong time for Eiji Okamura, a pure-hearted young photographer from Japan, to arrive in NYC and make Ash Lynx's acquaintance... and fall with him into the bloody whirlpool of pride, greed, lust and wrath unleashed by the enigma code-named Banana Fish...

Hiroko Utsumi (Free!) is directing the anime at MAPPA, and Hiroshi Seko (Ajin, Mob Psycho 100, Inuyashiki Last Hero) is in charge of the series scripts. Akemi Hayashi (Fruits Basket, Peacemaker, Doukyusei -Classmates-) is designing the characters. Shinichi Osawa (Ninja Slayer From Animation) is composing the music. Akitsugu Hisagi (key animator for Kids on the Slope, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG) is the show's "hard-boiled supervisor."

Seven Senses of the Re'Union, the television anime of Noritake Tao and booota's Shichisei no Subaru novels, premiered on TBS on July 5.

Yoshito Nishōji (Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-chan: Eigo de Tatakau Mahō Shōjo the TV, Koro Teacher Quest!) is directing the anime at Lerche. Takao Yoshioka (High School DxD, Ikki Tousen, The Testament of Sister New Devil) is in charge of series composition. Yumiko Yamamoto (Konohana Kitan animation director) is drawing the character designs, and is also the chief animation director.

In the novels' story, there was once a legendary party named Subaru in the globally popular MMORPG Union. The group was made of elementary school friends. They earned fame in the blink of an eye for their unparalleled abilities in the Sense system at the core of the game. However, there was an incident where a player passed away inside the game. As a result of the death, Union ended service.

Six years pass. Haruto Amō, who was a key member of Subaru, has become a hopeless high school student. His personality has changed, and he has no friends or ambition. A classmate gets him to log in to the new Re'Union game, and he ends up having a "reunion" that is hard to believe. He meets his former in-game partner and real-world childhood friend Asahi Kuga. The girl who was supposed to have died six years ago was there.

Haruto can't believe his eyes. He thinks he must be ill or Asahi must be a system error or bug. Yet, she really seems to be there in the game. A new legend begins after the pair's reunion.
