Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts light novel author Kenji Inoue and artist Kimitake Yoshioka (Rinne no Lagrange ~Akatsuki no Memoria~) launched a new manga titled Guran Buru (Grand Blue) in this year's 42nd issue of Kodansha's good! Afternoon magazine on Monday. Inoue and Yoshioka collaborated previously for the Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts spinoff manga series. This is the first time Inoue has authored an original manga work.

The manga centers on the budding youthful drama of a college student living along in a coastal city who meets a scuba-diving and fun-loving upperclassmen.

The Baka and Test light novel series ended last November. The comedy light novels' story centers around Akihisa Yoshii and his magical academy's lowly-ranked Class F as they battle the higher-tiered classes to seize their perks.

Kenji Inoue began his Baka to Test to Shōkanjū novels with illustrations by Yui Haga in 2007 under the Enterbrain label. The series' manga adaptation launched in Shōnen Ace magazine in 2009 and has received two spin-off manga. The light novels have also inspired two television anime series and a video anime project.

Yoshioka is also drawing the manga adaptation of Amagi Brilliant Park light novel series by Shoji Gatoh (Full Metal Panic!) in Fujimi Shobo Dragon Age magazine.
