I graduated a few days ago from my CAD program, and will be getting my Assosiate's of Applied Science degree in the mail. Two years of schooling and one degree major change, I am now finally ready to get a real job.

Anyone here a recent graduate? Or going to be?
I know I cam't be the only one... or am I?

finished uni, was OOP programming, fluid website design, API design, web applications, programming models, Database analyses and design, Chose artificial intelligence for my papers. Hated it but endured it apart from database and AI , then became a photographer lol. so I am high qualified in a field I don't want to work in hehe

Well im glad you like your field ^^ sounds quite interesting, its just that, when I left school, I didint think much of what I wanted to do, was never given advice on what I should follow. Since I got such good grades , in database design and data analyses, I ended up just going to college, then going to uni. But as you know I relazied it just wasnt for me, there was no passion. My farther was a photographer, I think maybe it just runs in my family that we are creative in a sense, my sister does 3d modeling for example and such. :)

    Two question

Is your Sister really in Modelling? :p

She hot!? if so send pics! ;)

    Thanks in advance :)

    On a more serious note,
Ya I came out of high school and took a year off to see what the workforce was and figure out what I really wanted to do in my life! Best decision I ever made... While my peers dropped out after 1 year and a vast debt, I started my Post secondary Education and knew what I wanted to do....
I really feel like High School while academically gets you ready for University/College it does a poor job for getting you ready for real life....

I also feel that a lot of student are pressured into selecting something anything instead of just taking a break to figure out what they really like and want to do. It's not obvious for everybody on what they want to do for the rest of their lives.

Anyways that's just my opinion on things what the hell do I know lol :)

haha, no ,well my older sister did get an offer for modelling, but no the sister who lives at home does 3d modelling VIA software ^^

    No problem ^^

Yea, maybe I should have took a year, to decide really what I wanted. But at the time there was a lot of pressure from teachers and the headmaster to stay on and do 6th form, which is like college but , a slightly lower level. There was never any discussions of " follow your dreams" it was either go to 6th form or to college. Then of course school ended and I just decided to go with computing since I was good at it haha.

I agree , students get a lot of pressure to quickly get a job or go to college instead of leaving it, there isnt much clear advice, of course this is my opinion, but it was the case at my school.
