Akiko Higashimura Resumes Princess Jellyfish Manga

Manga creator Akiko Higashimura resumed serialization on herKuragehime (Princess Jellyfish) manga on Saturday in the September issue of Kodansha's Kiss magazine. Higashimura last published a chapter of the main series in the magazine in the December 2014 issue in October. Higashimura had drawntwo prequel chapters in the magazine's January and February 2015 issues, which shipped in November and December, respectively. Higashimura lso drew a special chapter of the manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in December.

The issue also reveals that Higashimura will publish her Tokyo Tarareba-jō manga in every issue of Kiss, while she will publishPrincess Jellyfish in every other issue. The cover of the September issue (pictured at right) features the protagonists for both Princess Jellyfish and Tokyo Tarareba-jō.

The Princess Jellyfish manga inspired a 2010 television anime series that Funimation released in North America. Kodansha Comics describes the story:

Tsukimi, who has loved jellyfish from a young age, resides in Amamizukan, a fangirl-only dorm. One evening at the local pet store, Tsukimi sees a lovely jellyfish in danger, but a beautiful woman comes to the rescue. They go back to Amamizukan together, but this "woman"... is actually a man!
Kodansha Comics will debut the series in English in February 2016.

Higashimura is also launching a new manga titled Himo Zairu in Kodansha's Morning Twomagazine in the October issue on August 22. The September issue of Morning Two revealed more details about the manga on Wednesday. The description for the manga reads, "No money, not popular, no job. Because I'm useless at best, I'll become a himo! The curtain rises on Akiko Higashimura's himo-man training dojo!" A himo is a man who doesn't work and who is financially dependent on the women he goes out with. The manga will adorn the October issue's cover, and the first chapter will feature a color opening page.



Higashimura launched the Sekka no Tora series in Shogakukan's Hibana magazine when the magazine launched in March, and she ended her award-winning Kakukaku Shikajika manga in January.

The September issue of Kiss also revealed that the October issue will end the first part of Toriko Chiya's (Clover, Clover trèfle) Tokyo Alicemanga on August 25. Kodansha published the 14th compiled volume in January, and it will publish the 15th compiled volume in September.

Chiya's Clover manga received a live-action film adaptation in 2014.
