Film news website ComingSoon.net revealed on Monday that Netflix will debut the Ajin television anime's second season on December 27.

The first season of the television anime premiered on January 15 and ran for 13 episodes. Netflix streamed new episodes in Japan three days after they premiered on Japanese television, and it began streaming the entire first season outside of Japan on April 12. The second season premiered in Japan on October 7, and is currently running.

The anime's official website previously streamed a commercial for the anime in September.

The series is based on Gamon Sakurai's Ajin - Demi-Human manga. In the original manga's story, an immortal first appeared on an African battlefield 17 years ago. Later, rare, unknown new immortal lifeforms began appearing among humans, and they became known as "Ajin" (demi-humans). Just before summer vacation, a Japanese high school student named Kei Nagai is instantly killed in a traffic accident on his way home from school. However, he is revived, and a price is placed on his head. Thus begins a boy's life on the run from all of humankind.

Aside from the television anime, the manga has also inspired 3D CG anime film trilogy and three original anime DVDs by POLYGON PICTURES, who also animated the television anime. The first film, titled Ajin: Shōdō, opened in Japan in November 2015. The second film, titled Ajin: Shōtotsu, opened on May 6. The third film, Ajin: Shōgeki (Ajin: Crash), opened in Japan on September 23. A live-action film starring Takeru Satoh has been green-lit.

The second season has two opening songs for the first and second half of the anime, with both being collaboration songs between the groups angela and fripSide. The first song is described as an angela×fripSide collaboration titled "Boku wa Boku de Atte," which features in the show's first half, and the second song is described as a fripSide×angela collaboration. CreepHyp (RIN-NE 2) is performing the "main theme" song for the anime, titled "Kōtei no Sumi ni Futari, Kaze ga Fuite Ima Nara Ieru ka na," (Maybe the Couple at a Corner of the Schoolyard Can Say What They Want, Now that the Wind Is Blowing).

The limited edition of the eighth and ninth volume of the manga both bundle original anime DVDs on May 6 and October 7, respectively. The 10th volume will bundle a new OAD on April 7.

As I said to @Kaede via her profile, I'm already watching this. I can't believe fans are willing to wait for netflix to release it that much later. It is so good, even if I did read that it has gone anime original it still is just as intriguing and enjoyable as the first season.
Although I can complain about the themes of it. The first opening was good enough but it had nothing on the old one, meanwhile the 2nd opening is pretty disappointing even when compared to the first opening of this season.
The end theme too, it doesn't hold a candle to Miyano Mamoru's How Close You Are and is the weakest part of the series to me. But enough about that. Just you guys wait until you can see that Satou is up to now.

I'm also still sitting here waiting for the 2nd OVA to be released subbed, the first one was a good watch despite having nothing to do with the TV series characters. Since I know the 2nd OVA has to do with stuff happening in this season I want it to be up now. Argh more waiting.
