I have only read a few things from above. You guys all need to use Spoiler tags for a start.

Secondly, I might try watching this. It sounds intriguing... characters having breakdowns... people dying.. possibly a decent romance story?? You have persuaded me to check out this anime :D

I am going to eat my words here.
Haven't seen how the anime handled it just quite yet, but if it's like the manga I have to say 'I am disappoint'.
Didn't like how they handled the ending. (Besides the you.know.what)
The story was fairly different from the mainstream and popular ones, the art style of the episodes I've seen are amazing, and I'm sure the music is great as well. With all of that said though, I have to agree with a few others that this show is not in my top rankings. Probably in the middle somewhere because the wasted potential irks me.
Cuz she dead and the lie turned out to be what I expected >.<
where is my happy end!? even in death they can make it somewhat happier but noooooo. D:

I'm with you there. The potential was definitely there, but it lacks in some area and I can't really pinpoint where. Maybe just a little bit more of closure at the ending would have been helpful too.
Like what happened with the relationship with Tsubaki? Did that ever go anywhere?
Does Arima keep playing and end up becoming a great pianist with the help Kaori gave him to start again?

I think it would be a giant let down for them to have continued the story anymore. I personally like the open ending.

I totally understand why you would feel that way.
I remember watching the school rumble OVA's and that just sucked, that was a horrible closed ending in my opinion. I would definitely take the open end when comparing to something like that.
Although, closure can be good if done the right way. A matter of personal preference, and how it ends up being performed.

This anime gave me the feels.

I was down the day after finishing this series, it's still really good!

Just like I wished the ninth doctor lived, she didn't.

Funny thing, I heard a homeless man play Chopin and thought it was anime music.

I'm not the greatest music lover around, but I certainly love listening to Chopin above Beethoven and Mozart. But I will say this, and I'm being 100% truthful about this:

I didn't cry when Kaori died

There. I said it. Feel free to send hate mail via PM or here

So I just finished watching this anime... Wow, what a roller coaster of emotions that was...

Man, I knew Kaori was gonna die. But, it was so sad. But, at least they carry on their lives. The anime started very slowly. But, got better by about episode 15 I would say.

All in all, it was good.
