The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run Trailer Features Snailnapping, Gambling And... Keanu?

Given that the first film based on the SpongeBob SquarePants character arrived in 2004, you'd be forgiven for thinking that his day had passed. But the cheery animated weirdo just keeps coming back, with a third film, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge On The Run arriving next year. Check out the first trailer.



Unlike 2015's Sponge Out Of Water, this doesn't blend the animated adventures with live-action, with one big exception: yes, that's Keanu Reeves as a sagebrush called Sage, who happens to be a wise sage. About par for the course on a Spongebob story.

The story this time sees Tom Kenny's titular hero scared when his snail pal Gary is taken. He and best pal Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke) set out on a journey to find him that will, among other locations, take in the Lost City Of Atlantic City.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge On The Run will be out in the UK on 22 May next year.
