My first anime was Hand Maid May recommended to me by a friend. It's a wierd ecchi harem and seeing as those are my now least enjoyed genres it's amazing I kept watching anime. xP

Then after Aishiteruze Baby and D.N.Angel she recommended me Bleach, which I was obsessed with for three years (and still am a little).

Let's take a trip down memory lane. The anime that started it all was Dragon Ball Z, and it escalated from there.
Death Note, Vampire Knight, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Digimon, Pokemon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Inuyasha,
Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, D.N Angel, Spiral, Fruits Basket, Full Metal Alchemist, Ouran High School Host Club.

My tastes keep evolving as new anime is introduced. Spread to numerous genres.
Tokyo Ghoul, Ghost Hunt, Kamisama Kiss, Maid Sama, The Devil is a Part-timer, Is This a Zombie, Noragami, Gundam Seed etc.

I look forward to new series, as well as re-visiting the classics.

Can’t believe that I’ve never posted in this thread..

Anyway, it was probably Mobile Suit Gundam 0079. I cant remember for certain. I remember growing up with Gundam, Rurouni Kenshin, Dragon Ball and DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, and the various Ghibli films.

I would love to tell you all that my first anime I was watching was Dragon Ball z. But I want be completely honest with all of you. The first anime I started with was a cartoon called Dragon Ball z and of course Dragon Ball. Yes I am talking about Dragon Ball Z the anime not a cartoon. I did not start learning the difference in anime and cartoons till I started needing more then what cartoon network was giving me. I was about 8 or 9 when I started figuring out that Dragon Ball Z was originally from Japan and the original audio was in Japanese. I hated reading when I was a kid I was even in special classes for reading and writing. So to find out to get my fix of Dragon Ball Z I needed to read the newer episodes I figured to hell with it I will just start liking to read. And then I started with the computer in my grandmothers front bedroom. And watching it in Japanese and reading it in English. "How can you understand a dam word there saying. Well because I'm reading the words. But there going to fast. I go back and re-watch what I can't read."

One time I called my mother a "Baka" and she asked me what it meant. It means I love you in Japanese. "Wow you learned that from watching anime. Yup sure did."

After Dragon Ball Z I was freaking hooked.

Once I would get home from school I would watch my DB, DBZ, Sailor Moon and all the good ones from the 90's. Or I would watch what I could until Walker Texas Ranger-Chuck Norris. would come on. I had the TV from about 3:30 to 5:00 and then 6:00 to 8:00 it was anime on cartoon network then Walker Texas Ranger on usa and the Raw. I think it was on Spike TV or something like that until it switched to USA. And once I got my own TV in the room it was all anime all the time. And now the anime habit has grown over the years to just watching online for hours a day.

Pokemon and digimon were technically the first. But it wasn't until about 5 years later I discovered Shaman King on the Fox Box, and a year after that the 4-Kids dub of One Piece. Around then was when i was really hooked on the medium. A couple years after that I saw episodes of naruto in the passing (didn't have cable). Then one summer I had good internet access for a month...

Edit: There were a couple i missed looking back before Shaman King hooked me. Medabots about 2 years prior and Fighting Foodons. Totally forgot about them until i watched a recent video about dub openings.

My first anime was the original Dragon Ball Z at the age of 4. I didn't know it was anime at the time, but I loved watching it and my father didn't want to fight me about watching it. It was on a VHS so I had to rewind it each time I finished it.

I didn't go heavy into anime until I was 14, in which case I picked up SAO. After that I moved on to Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist and Seraph of the End.

First Anime: A Certain Scientific Railgun/One Punch Man/Pokemon
Why I have several choices for first anime will become apparent in following paragraph.

My start into anime is a little weird. My first anime is technically Pokemon, but I wouldn't call that my first anime (although some might) mainly because I only watched some episodes and not the entire thing. Instead, the first anime I would say I watched (because I completed it) would be One Punch Man, which I watched probably just after the final ep came out. I then went on to watch Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, but dropped it because it was still airing (Spring of 2016 apparently). I then went on and did other things on the internet until March 13, 2017 (I remember this because it was the Monday of Spring Break). I was watching youtube videos when a song called "It's not Like I Like You!" came up on the recommended videos. I listened to this song several times and finally decided to find out what that word was being sung in the chorus was. I turned on the captions and found out it was tsundere, which I had no clue what it was. I then googled that word and instead of the definition of the word tsundere, it came up with "Top Tsundere Anime". I then went on to google "tsundere definition" and it told me what a tsundere was, but I didn't understand what that meant because it sounded like a process of a character, and I didn't fully understand what that meant. After that, I went back to the "Top Tsundere Anime" and watched the first one which was "A Certain Scientific Railgun". That was my first anime of my new anime lifestyle. It was also the anime that led me to my favorite anime site, justdubs.org. After watching that, I went on and googled it a bit more, and realized that the anime I just watched was actually a side story of the anime "A Certain Magical Index". (The Railgun anime actually happened before Index, making it a prequel, but MyAnimeList says otherwise). I then went and completed that anime. However, at that point, I began to tire of that so I dropped that series without watching the second series of either anime (I was stupid) and went back to my original question of "What is a tsundere?" So I went back to the list and went to the next anime and then watched "Love Hina". Then went on to stay holed up in my room for the entirety of spring break bingewatching anime. My life spiraled down from there until I became trash so I could enjoy trashy anime. My life will continue on until I will eventually get hit by truck-kun and get transported to a magical world where I will become OP and defeat the Demon King along with my harem. The End
