    Actually, they're all non gender specific so they can all be used on anyone.

    Kun and san can be used in the same situations, regarless of gender; they're for relatives, friends, acquaintances, and strangers.

    Chan is for your very close friends and relatives.

    Sama is for a master i.e. out of style.

    There are more you'll figure out along the way.

    I didn’t get an email for these so I ended up asking my Japanese friend, she said that I was correct?

    I’m actually self teaching myself Japanese, I remember taking notes on these but I can’t really remember where I put my notes...

    as what @Negi-Springfield said, they are not really that gender specific and can be used to anyone but there are default uses to them.

    Tatoeba (例えば).....
    kun - for males younger than the speaker
    chan - for females younger than the speaker
    san - polite honorific for anyone of same age or older

    BUT you can use the above for

    kun - to co-workers mostly in office
    chan - to close friends to emphasize coolness if the receiver wants to
    san - to give honor or award to younger than the speaker during formal occasions

    heck we have a native speaker in the forums so we can just call her right @Samet Chan?
