Live-Action The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Film's Theater Video Streamed

The official YouTube account of ASMIK Ace began streaming a "theater special video" for the live-action film ofShūichi Asō's Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.) manga. The three parts of the video will be screened separately in theaters in Japan. In the video, Kento Yamazaki as Kusuo Saiki asks theatergoers to watch the film's trailer.



The film's cast includes:

The film will premiere in Japan on October 21. Yūichi Fukuda (live-action HK/Hentai Kamen, Mr. Nietzsche in the Convenience Store, Gin Tama) is directing the film.

Musical duo Yuzu is performing the film's theme song "Koi, Hajikemashita." (Love, Burst).

The manga inspired an anime series that aired within the Oha-Suta("Good Morning Star") program beginning last July. The anime aired five episodes each week inside that program, and then a late-night broadcast collected those five episodes and aired them together. An anime sequel was green-lit last year, and Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed last month that the second television anime season will premiere in early 2018.

Funimation streamed the series with English subtitles as it aired in Japan, and also streamed an English broadcast dub for the series. Funimation describes the series:

Kusuo Saiki is a typical 16-year-old high school student… except he has psychic powers. He can use them to get whatever he wants, but he also knows everything that people are thinking. Everything. No surprises, no secrets, no normal human experiences. He's kept his powers in check since childhood, but with the temptations of high school now on his mind, he's bending the rules—and spoons.

Asō launched the manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2012 after drawing one-shot versions of the story in Weekly Shonen Jump and Jump Next! magazines in 2011. Shueisha published the 22nd compiled volume of the manga on July 4.
