So I'm currently thinking about buying a tablet (subject to change). I have been browsing Apple iPads. And my god, they are expensive. But, they do have very good specs, plus I am familiar with them as well.

My questions to the forum are: Do you also have a tablet, and how do you find it? What do you recommend? What is the best value for one? Best price, best specs, etc?

I have an Ipad (2?) and it works great.

I mostly use it to read e books, view pdf's, and stream, so never had issues with it.

If you have other Apple devices, I'd say go for an Ipad.

I didn't shop for mine, it was a hands me down.

In the end it really depends on what you're planning on using it for.

I'll say that if you get an Ipad, don't update IOS as it tends to just make it slower.

If you go with a tablet, one of the first things you should probably consider is whether or not you intend to expand on memory or not. Apple (unless they recently got their heads out of their asses) has their devices locked down so much that SD Cards aren't allowed. (This will effectively eliminate Apple iPads and a handful of Android devices).

If you don't intend to expand your memory on your tablet, then next thing to ask yourself is what you intend to use it for: Media Playback (music/video), Web Browsing, Games, etc

@Vashnik Probably all of the above is what I intend to use it for.

iPads probably have the overall smoothest experience and nicest displays. Rarely has issues, you get what you pay for.
I've got a Kindle Fire 8. Nice and cheap, but the UI tends to hang for a few seconds every once in a while, but memory is expandable, the amazon app store isnt too bad, and you can hack it rather easily to add the google play store, opening it up to all android apps.
I've used a Microsoft surface 2 Pro (always get the Pro, otherwise its gutted windows) and a co-worker has the 3. These are basically full-on computers, but they work amazingly well.
I've also used a Galaxy Tab e which is a nice big android tablet which also runs rather smoothly although maybe not as well as an ipad.

Doesn't the Surface Pro series have a USB port that allows you to add/use a flash drive? That's a big bonus for anyone who uses flash drives.

So the consensus seems to be that iPads are the best. All the others are OK, but run really slowly?

iPads are good if you're not seeking to expand your storage space (full hardware locked). Otherwise, you're better off with an Android or Windows-based tablet, not only for price, but for better flexibility (expanding your storage). The best hardware Androids are still cheaper than most iPad models.

    For comparison:
iPads with 32 GB storage cost between $799 (12.9 inch) and $269 (iPad mini 2) and that's just for the Wi-Fi only versions, brand new. Apple doesn't list the speed or memory amounts, so I can't compare internal hardware. Also, they don't have a 64 GB model for of their new iPads.
ASUS ZenPad 10 with 64GB storage is $299. 4 GB memory, 6-core, Android 6.0 (Marshmellow), capable of adding up to 128 GB of expandable storage. Although they list the processor as a dual-core 2.1 GHz + Quad-core 1.7 GHz at the top of the product's page, the "layman" description boasts it as a hexa-core processor which makes sense.
Windows Surface Pro 4 start at $699 (based on what Microsoft is listing it on their own website) for a 128 GB storage, 4 GB memory, Intel m3 (dual-core) processor model. Comes with a full-size USB 3.0 port and a microSD card reader.
Similar Android devices as the ASUS ZenPad 10 would probably be either similar in price or $100 - $200 more, depending on brand. I'm thinking the ZenPad 10 I mentioned was designed for mobile gaming, so the performance shouldn't be an issue.

So it again depends on what all you're going to use the tablet for. Also, prices are based in US Dollars, so the listing might be the same or relatively close to it.

    Revised for accuracy.

iPad minis let you use headphone jacks. It's more the newer stuff that won't let you.

Ah, so they do. They definitely don't like pointing out those differences on the comparison page, which was the page I was looking at to see what models had what ports and which ones didn't have ports that other models did. So apparently instead of including it on there, they just decided to not mention it in hopes of killing it off. All models so far (as of today) still have the 3.5mm jack as far as I can tell. We'll see after they introduce a new iPad series if they stick with the iPhone 7 gimmick and remove the jack or not.

Hmm, I think I may get iPad eventually. But, only when I feel like I really need one.

PC in more convenient for using than tablets for me too. Because monitor size can be big. Also onitor stand is useful device for PC monitor. A monitor stand is a supportive equipment that holds any display screen in a desired position. The monitor stand stands on the desk either with c-clamps, grommets or as a freestanding design. Plis monitor stand has some benefitsvon

What about a covertable laptop/ultrabook that can be folded back into a tablet when the keyboard and trackpad isn't needed?
