Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter Anime Streams Trailer For 1st Film

    Pony Canyon began streaming a trailer on Saturday for the Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō (Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter) theatrical anime project's first film, titled Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō: Tomodachi (Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter: Friends). The video reveals that Suzuko Mimori is performing the opening theme song "Sakiwafuhana" for all three films.

    The films' official website also revealed the ending theme song information on Saturday. The three main voice actresses will perform the ending theme song "Tomoadchi" for the first film. Yumiri Hanamori will perform the second film's ending theme song "Tamashii," and Suzuko Mimori and Kana Hanazawa will perform the third film's ending them song "Yakusoku." The ending theme song titles are the same as the subtitle for each of the films.

    The website has also revealed that Rina Satou is joining the film trilogy's main cast as Aki-sensei. Additionally, the official Twitter account for the franchise revealed a new key visual on Saturday.

    Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō is the first half (six episodes) of the second season of the Yuki Yuna Is a Hero series, and consists of three anime films. The first film will open on March 18, and it will screen alongside an anime adaptation of the Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha-bu Shozoku four-panel spinoff manga. The second film is subtitled "Tamashii" (Soul) and third film is subtitled "Yakusoku" (Promise). The second and third films will open on April 15 and July 8, respectively. The anime will then air on television after the theatrical screenings.

    The anime will star:

    Suzuko Mimori as Sumi Washio
    Kana Hanazawa as Sonoko Nogi
    Yumiri Hanamori as Gin Minowa

    The anime adapts Takahiro and illustrator BUNBUN's illustrated novel series Washio Sumi wa Yūsha de Aru (Washio Sumi is a Hero). Project 2H is credited as the original creator, Takahiro (Minato Soft) is credited with the original plan designs, and BUNBUN is credited with the original character designs. Seiji Kishi, who directed the first anime season, is the chief director. Daisei Fukuoka (Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Despair Arc, Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Future Arc) is directing the anime at Studio Gokumi. Makoto Uezu is returning to handle the series composition, and Uezu and Takahiro are writing the scripts. Takahiro Sakai is returning to adapt BUNBUN's designs for animation and is also serving as chief animation director. D.K& JWWORKS is in charge of the concept art, and Keiichi Okabe and MONACA are returning to compose the music. Pony Canyon is distributing the anime.

    Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Yūsha no Shō, the second half of the second season, is a direct sequel to the first season.

    The first anime's story takes place in the era of the gods, year 300. Yūna Yūki lives an ordinary life as a second year middle school student, but she's also a member of the "Hero Club," where club activities involve dealing with a mysterious being called "Vertex."

    The 12-episode anime series premiered in October 2014, and Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan. Ponycan USA released the anime in three Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo packs in North America in 2015.
