I think its really only celebrated in Ireland its not a holiday here in Canada but people go out and drink their faces of none the less Its really just an excuse to get drunk altho most of us dont really need that excuse

Isn't it celebrated in the US though? Or only by people with Irish ancestors? Idk if that goes here, there might be people who think it's cool and go drinking for St Patricks Day, i don't know any though.

It might be celebrated in places like Boston in the state where the Irish culture is strong there...... but I dont think its an official Holiday there either......

Around here people just dress in green with tall green hats and green sunglasses and drink green beer...... Dont know if its cool or not but when your 20 years old it is a good time.....

So that would mean i have not celebrated it for over 10 years wow i am getting old.

 

Me Irish blood be boiling! Time to enjoy the best holiday of the year!

 

I'm pretty sure that the holiday most understand it as is the US-based version, or like Cinco de Mayo, an excuse to go drinking/partying and not about culture because the US bastardizes EVERYTHING in the name of Commercialism. lol It, however, is not a federal holiday, so work continues as normal (or for some places, busier than normal, such as bars/pubs).

The holiday Ireland likely celebrates is the Catholic/Christianity version, which is a feast in honor of Saint Patrick, Patron Saint of Ireland, and a special mass/service. Most might have the day off in Ireland if their government observes it.

Can I ask you something I'm kind new hear but what is St. Patrick Day, I must of new it in past but I must forgot what it is?

 

It's a Christian Holiday commemorating the death of Saint Patrick, the foremost partron saint of Ireland.
