The series beings at the home of a young boy named Sho Azuka discovers the magical Bible "Superbook" that speaks and sends him, his friend Azusa Yamato, and his toy robot Zenmaijikake back in time to the early events of the Old Testament.

Superbook is a very old children’s adventure that aims to educate kids on the basic events of the Bible (or the Old Testament, if you prefer).

    MAL rates it as 6.17.

What do you Justdubians think of Superbook?

I remember seeing this on TV ages ago. Like really long time ago. It was on some channel early morning and was a nice show to watch before going to church since I wasn't allowed to watch non religious stuff during that time.

Objectively I remember it being fairly well done. It told the bible stories is an entertaining manner although the whole magic book thing was a little odd (they are just kind of "Oh a magic talking book....cool") and what was even weirder was when it somehow got turned into a computer or something.... don't ask it was too long ago and I don't think it made sense to me then either. I remember another show that aired at the same time called flying house or something that was pretty much exactly the same as superbook (Down to a boy, girl, little brother, and a robot) except instead of a weird magic book making them see things they were litterally traveling through time with a time machine that takes the entire house with it for some reason. In any case if you are christian and want something to help your kids learn the stories of the bible this was a pretty good way to do it and keep them entertained.

If you aren't christian then it's definitely not for you which is probably why it has a 6.17 rating.

Although wow I did not expect someone to make a thread about this show. Hell I didn't even know this was anime I just remember seeing it on TV when I was a kid. Thanks for the nostalgia Lax.

It's really nice hearing some insight from a forum member about this. I never even knew this existed until it was uploaded.

One of the new guys uploaded this to the Dl section and Lax took care of anime on the streaming end. In addition to the other site changes, we change our "More Info" button on the anime pages to "Discuss Now" so a lot more discussion threads will be popping up eventually.

Yeah not only is it a basically bible stories animated but it's really old so I don't think anyone would know it exists unless they saw it on TV way back when. Because I don't think I've even seen it on most anime sites so most wouldn't even come across it by accident.
