Five girls chase their dreams. The story revolves around the everyday troubles and hardships that occur when working in the anime industry, and the results and conflicts that happen day-to-day among the group of girls.

Well this is coming out soon enough so I guess that means that for now there is nothing to really say here apart from, who's excited for this series?

@Sir-Maddy since I'm obviously not an obsessed fan of Mai Nakahara and I don't follow news about VAs, what were these spoofs you mentioned?
MAL says otherwise about the op saying that it is "COLORFUL BOX" by Yoko Ishida.

I couldn't help but feel that there was a tongue in cheek crack about Glasslip in this episode. The dialogue over the radio said something along the lines of forgetting about summer's anime and deleting them, I can only imagine that was PA's way to tell everyone to forget that series happened.
Also I'll rate this better than Glasslip for that car racing scene alone, I got Initial D vibes from her drifting.

Well I liked the first ep so it will be interesting to see where they take it from here.

Yay, time to share off my knowledge.
Okay so they spoofed three different VA's like I mentioned.
There's Nakaharu Mei (Nakahara Mai), Itou Suzuka (Itou Shizuka) and Kayana Mui (Kayano Ai).
They even went as far as to add anime versions of them into the show.

That OP played at the end.
I'm talking about the one that served as the OP song when the "street" racing happened.
It was by Mai Nakahara, Shizuka Itou and Ai Kayano and it's called "I'm sorry, EXODUS"

That street racing also doubles up as a reference to Initial D.

@Sir-Maddy oh the radio, so the VAs of Exodus characters are spoofs of real ones huh, that makes sense considering the setting this has.
Although what were their anime versions, can you provide screen shots?

Ah Exodus' op, I should have though of that as a possibility. I may have to watch that part again, since it was so obviously Initial D I started playing one of the songs from that franchise's OST in my head. I may have been only paying half attention once all the drifting started....

Speaking of references, I was trying to see what the posters on the walls were of but I couldn't see anything that looked similar to shows I'm familiar with. Since it is an anime about making anime I thought it might have been like Bakuman and have some of their actual shows behind them. Would be good if they could reference all of their past shows that I've liked.

I'm hoping the EXODUS OP is on the OST list.
Cause you know.. it has a catchy beat.

After I watched the episode, I went back and muted the audio and put this on:

@Sir-Maddy oh that scene, I guess I forgot it already because I don't remember seeing it. So this is their anime selves huh, interesting I wonder if they had a say about how they looked.

Right catchy beat that is definitely the reason you want it to be in that list.

I didn't do that, but it does sound like an interesting idea. I think I'd choose a different song, there were a few I really liked hearing behind the races.

Well we never saw their faces they were on the radio.

Anyway first episode was pretty good. Besides the fact the cute girl to guy ratio is obviously off I'm hoping this will end up a fairly accurate look at what life in the animation industry is like. Obvious it's going to be dramatized a bit but still since it's an anime about making anime I would hope they at least demonstrate they know what they are talking about.

This is definitely doing better than glasslip though. It's characters are fun and interesting and there was plenty going on to keep me interested.

No, but I know who's who judging from appearances.

I forgive P.A. Works for Glasslip just like how I forgive Sunrise for Cross Ange.
They're making muh seiyufu popular again.

Yes, totally, I MEAN THE SINGING TOTALLY SUCKS I'M JUST IN IT FOR THE BEATS.

Probably but I only know 2 songs from the Initial D sound track.

So I watched the first episode today and I liked it. The introductions for the multitude to characters was a bit faster than I'd have liked. Over all I think I may enjoy watching this anime.

well I think most of those characters were just supporting cast. The girls who used to be in a club together were the main focus. The rest are only getting attention so we know what their jobs are and understand how skilled or unskilled they are. So it makes sense it was mostly glossed over. It's like when an anime opens up with class introductions, the only one you care about is the MC and other main cast members. The rest of the class only get basic intros.

watched the first ep and man thats a lot of characters to remember. now this is an anime that i feel P.A will not mess with. their works that are into slice of life that i watched were superb.

i wont be suprised if in the end the company the MC is working for will be shut down. having watched tari-tari and hanasaku iroha just gave me the pattern. P.A has been introducing dieing industries that japan is now facing due to their aging population. wait before you say "anime industry dieing?" well its not the industry really but just that company. i hope im wrong on this one.

the racing segment of the show is something i look forward aside from where the heck are the other characters now. P.A has to add some comic relief in their shows. this just kinda persuaded me to move initial d to be watched as soon as possible.

and the douhnuts lets not forget those. its like the dr pepper move i wonder if doughnuts are not the marketable in japan.

Just saw this thread so I'm late even though I saw ep 1 nearly a week ago. Twas good, was worried it might get boring there for a bit but, quickly picked up. I also did not know that when an anime is airing in Japan, they are still making the whole anime practically. I always thought, it is finished when they air it. Does anyone know if this is the actual case? If so, has anyone ever heard of an anime that's airing having probs airing? (Such as, missed release date for an ep, delayed till god knows when, CANCELED! etc.)

    :) X)

Looks like the MC to an awesome anime if u ask me. I also loved the Exodus song.

This is a very interesting idea, I wasn't thinking about the other series like that. I'm not sure if this will come to anything but the company going to shut down would definitely add some of that drama we've seen form their other works. This is going to be fun to see if this comes true or not.

Shirobako persuading Noobs to wach Initial D sooner, I completely approve of that.

This is actually true, the series are still being worked on even during the airing of earlier episodes. How close do they cut it? Well that is anyones guess [could be as seen in this show even] but there has been an instance where the amount of work wasn't possible. When the original run of Psycho Pass was airing something happened during production which lowered the visual quality of one of the eps. The creator apologised for the poor quality over social media after it had aired promising that the next ep would be the same good quality as the previous ones. He also said that the episode with problems would be fixed for the DVD release in the same message.
A bunch of shows I've followed weekly in the past has had seemingly out of the blue episode postponements, why was never released as far as I found out so this could have been production issues as well.
I've never heard of one being cancelled during its run, then again I don't exactly go looking for this info.

I know of another good example. In the second to last episode of Wizard Barristers you can tell they either ran out of money or time and didn't want to delay their schedule because they made so many short cuts that it ruined the episode. A character's death scene was played off screen and we just watch a still back ground while we hear the gun shot, MC crying, and the person handing the MC an important item. This was just one example though as the entire episode was full of shortcuts like battle scenes being glanced over without any real action being shown.

The show wasn't very good to begin with but it at least had some decent animation and effects until this episode where you can tell they did not give a single damn.

As for things cancled during their run I don't know much about it but I know Rave Master stopped mid season. This wasn't a cliffhanger after an arc or something they were literally just starting a new arc and they just stopped.

Haha, yes this series was so bad. The show was average before that episode but after it oh my god. Now that was some bloody obvious problems they had, I couldn't even find a reason behind why they released the ep that way. Rumours were that it was budget cuts but who knows for sure. I'd like to see the creators views on that episode because it was so bad, I ended up rating the show a 5 but I think I may change it to a 4. The final ep was a let down too but that animation fail episode was horrendously bad, considering most of the action happened off screen and for all of the other scenes it almost seemed like my player had froze.
It was easily the worst animated episode of anything I've seen, and that is saying something because I go out of my way to watch black and white shorts from the 30s.

yeah that whole show was bad partly for how it made a complete joke of the legal system (In what country that the prosecution and defense just switch sides and the defendant accuse their own lawyer?) I'm not asking for an anime to perfectly reflect the legal system but that was just not even trying.

But back on the subject of animation in that episode the only time I've seen worse than that is in the last episodes of His and Her Circumstances. That can hardly even be called animation anymore at that point. It was pretty much just them showing the manga with voice acting. It was so pathetic and to make it worse nothing even really happened during those episodes so they were fairly boring.
