    Hi guys :)

I will be honest with you, I asked this question in a lot of forums and still didn't get an answer, in fact, if you searched for this question on google chances are the poster is me. And I also asked people that watch One Piece as well and I'm still looking for answers. And this question is one of the main reasons why I joined this forum. And I'm not doing this because of any malicious intent, I genuinely don't know the answer.
So I'm hoping to find an answer here.

In the Skypiea arc in the One Piece anime series, Enel, who is the main antagonist of that arc, says he's "god", is that true?

And if so, does he mean he’s A god, like Thor from the Marvel comic book franchise or does he mean he’s THE God, the one one that Muslims and Christians pray to?

And did any of the Straw Hat Pirates believed him?

i would say that it depends on whos perspective. before Enel came down to upper yard, ganfall was already the so called "god". so to me, its a self proclaimation god status. in the time that passed by in the series, people just regarded Enel as a god
due to his god like devil fruit that allowed him to produce electicity and his elongated ears that helped him hear at the limits of the whole island.

not really but we cant discount that Oda based Enel from Norse mythology as we gets references from many mythologies and legends from around the world.

as for whether the straw hats believed if he is a god, my memory is hazy now as its been so long, i dong think so. as far as luffy was concerned, he refers Enel as a bad person that did bad things and needs defeating to rescue Nami and everyone else from death.

also, if you have any more question one piece related, you may look for Tekking101 in YT and look at the videos in this channel. he has lots of discussions and theories about the series and he, imo, gives information that has enough basis and weight.

That was so long ago I had no idea who Ganfall was anymore. Upon searching him, wasn't he just one of the legendary knights? Something more like that?

I see this as the most accurate way to describe it. Thor is a god of thunder, much like our bad guy Enel. Perhaps his power is likened to the gods since he rules over a powerful element.
But like Noobs also said he would most likely be a self proclaimed god due to not having a rival to his strength.
We can't forget that One Piece is Japanese. Considering the sheer amount of gods that they worship, I'd lean more towards there not likely to be a singular god for this show.
Moreover I don't think Oda could write god into the story now unless Luffy dies in the final chapter and gets to meet them. It just doesn't flow with what has been set up. How often do we actually get THE god in anime as well?

it is too long ago indeed. as what i can remember, and some reading, he wasnt the knight we come to know in the arc but was a leader of sort so he could be the best knight for all we know but was just giving orders that time. he then became that beat up knight after the defeat.
