Hello~! Are there any avid MMORPG players here? I'm a Black Desert Online player and I absolutely love the remastered update that was recently released; the graphics and audio are better than ever. Before that, I had played other MMOs, some memorable and some are just meh!

What MMOs did you play before or still currently playing? What are its shortcomings and how do you think it can be improved upon? What do you think would be great to add to current MMOs?

Although I have BDO, i've never played.

I used to play TERA on PC and started a character on xbone. Combat was active and fun, but most of the story is ignored since most everyone uses the dungeons for leveling. They also made the console edition waaaaay too easy. I think they decreased monster health and power in addition to reducing the amount of xp top level up. Mostly stopped playing because my irl friends stopped. We are on Smite (MOBA) now since its somewhat optimized and can be played on a laptop with an i5 and no gpu that one of my friends still has.

I've been anxious to find a new MMO to sink some time into, but ones like Bless Online and Dark and Light, havent been doing the greatest in their early access phase.

I've got Black Desert Online, but I've only been able to boot it up once last year. I've never been able to get it to boot back up since. Their technical support is a joke too. They keep blaming it on my anti-virus or Steam. Ironically, I'm only using the stock Windows Defender with Windows 10. If it was an anti-virus problem, then everyone running Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 would be running into this problem. If it's a Steam problem, then why the hell are they even releasing it on Steam? Bunch of asshat clowns. The reality: their anti-cheat system is a piece of shit.

I also have TERA, but I don't think I've actually booted it up to play it.

I've got World of Warcraft, which is what I mainly play. The control scheme is great and easy to use and the lore is intriguing. Add-ons are abundant to let you customize your experience. Entire GUI overhauls, combat mechanic add-ons, bag interface add-ons, etc. It's probably the most widely supported MMO game for addons that literally lets you re-design the entire game's interface for your play style.

I have RIFT installed, but I kinda fell out of playing that after it's initial public release when beta testing was over. Since it was a subscription based game for a while, I never bothered to get back into it until maybe 2 years ago. Stopped playing it again. Just not enough addon support and the addons I like are only available in World of Warcraft and have no equivalent in RIFT.

I've got EVE Online, but the controls have gotten so complicated that I can't even steer a spaceship decently. I pretty much quit playing it, even with the free-to-play access.

I still have Guild Wars (first one) installed and I update it once in a while, but I pretty much stopped playing. The game more or less requires you to play with other players. It's nearly impossible to play through the story by yourself and the NPC "party" they give you for solo players are ridiculously terrible. You really need friends to play it, otherwise you could be waiting a while to advance through the story.

I have Final Fantasy XI (without expansions), but I've never bothered to install the game from my original discs (and they're still packed up somewhere in a box). I also didn't have money to subscribe at the time, so I've never invested any time into the game either.

I played some Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR), but ever since they went free to play, the experience has sucked. Like, World of Warcraft has a better free to play experience. You get access to the bank. In SWTOR, you don't even get basic access. You have to pay for that service either by subscribing or using the Cartel coins in the "black market," their in-game shop, and using real money in exchange for Cartel coins.

I still have Ragnarok Online installed, but I don't have my original characters. I've lost that since back in 2006 when it was still subscription based.

I've got AION still installed, but the controls are terrible. I just can't get used to the controls, so I usually just end up quitting the game after about 30 minutes of playing and getting fed up with the controls.

Those are the only ones I've played so far. I suppose you could include Minecraft and Terraria in those as well, but they're technically not "Massive" since they support a limited amount of players (Terraria supports up to 255 players, but no more than that). I don't think there are any "official" servers (or at least ones that can support as many fans as normal MMORPG games go), so the community is practically scattered across random private servers.

I played both sides pre-release event War of the Thorns. Sylvanas actions were definitely in the black area of the moral compass, but her intentions behind them are still a morally grey area. I haven't done much past the pre-event's Battle for the Undercity though. Just like the battle for the Broken Shore, she retreated and Greymane was an ass about it the entire Legion campaign. So you can understand the motivations to increase the horde's power, but the methods to do so ended up morally black. Regardless of her methods, she was definitely the most successful warchief to date.

Her name should be familiar to you. Valeera Sanguinar; Serves the house of Wrynn; Agent of the former King of Stormwind and the personal spy for Anduin Wrynn. Heavily steeped in Warcraft lore as a loyal (based on her personal loyalty to Varian and her son) Alliance agent because of her service to Varian Wrynn.

Eh, I was mainly going for the memes. Legitimately hope she doesn't go Garrosh2.0 though...

Ah, I was just doubting myself. Was thinking "Valeera?... No, that's just a Windrunner... (Lol Alleria) Sanguin-something?... No, she's not a vampire thingo..."
Didn't really know much about her lore-wise. Wait, is she the one that split-Varian met in the arena thingo?

She was a captive and gladiatorial slave. Varian was washed up near the shores of Orgrimmar and taken captive as well. Her, Varian, and Broll were being transported to Dire Maul. That's how they first met, according the the World of Warcraft: The Comic (Valeera Sanguinar's page).

Was actually about to make this thread lol

I play Elder Scrolls Online, Blade and Soul, FF14 and Black Desert Online for the most part. Currently playing KurtzPel and swtor, though I really want to get back into FF11 at some point.
