    A greedy king, not happy with the ruling he had over the land "despicable creatures" he called mankind, wanted more. The deity of death and destruction, pleased by the Kings thirst for more power, decided to offer a deal to the king. The king was offered to have a world all to himself and the power to create that world, but in return he was to destroy all of mankind. The deity saw this as a perfect opportunity to create a world of darkness and the king would do his bidding. As greedy as the king was he didn't hesitate to take the offer.

    A war broke out amongst all the villages, the king using the deity's forces to destroy all of those who were human leaving the world in turmoil.

    The other gods were displeased with this, but they too had a plan of their own, they had prepared for the deity to make a move as bold as this many years in advanced. They had placed several humans on the earth to be born in the years prior to the attack, knowing these humans would fight back for what is right . Each person carries a certain power, a tool/weapon, or has a special ability about them to help them battle the kings pawns, to ultimately bring down the king and his rule.

    we are to battle the kings demon pawns to survive and to try to get to the king to destroy him to gain back the world we once loved.

    The Deities can be found in the proceeding post.

    Please see below for description and info on each deity, provided by each player

    To begin we will have it that everyone's characters are unaware of the deities until one either appears before them or everyone gets to the king. Each person, might have heard stories about them, but to everyone, that's all they are..just stories. Deities can disguise themselves as humans to blend in, but in the human form their power is very limited. Each Deity is played by the RPer listed above. Some Deities are good and some are evil, it is up to you to decide which one is which. This is a free RP so feel free to throw in whatever you like for plots. Please no op characters. The deities are OP but each have a weakness and can be defeated.

    Here is the info needed for Character creation:
    name:
    age:
    sex:
    weapons:
    power (if any):
    special characteristics:

    Ill be playing deity of light and deity of nature

    Nicknamed: Vox

    Gender: Seems to be female

    Age: Unknown

    Description: Humanoid creature measuring approximately 1.97 meters in height. Surrogate shows minimal muscle mass, with preliminary analysis of body mass suggesting a slightly underweight complexion in comparison to normal human standards. The rest of her body fits in perfectly with form. Its jaw can open to four (4) times the norm of an average human to reveal four (4) sets of teeth on both the top and bottom of her mouth. Each teeth seems to be dipped into an unknown metal giving them extreme sharpness and strength. Her jaw seems to be able to contract back at an extreme speed and pressure - this allows her to bite through most known materials and even bone. All other facial features are relatively similar to that of a human. It shows no signs of brain activity and attacks almost everything in sight to kill, or capture. Its solid black eyes lack discernible irises or pupils, and resemble small cut onyx. Any form of damage sustained by being shot, cut, or blown up by weak explosives (barring at RPGs) can be almost instantly 'healed' by her flesh seeming to 'weave' itself back together and excrete and foreign materials via entry wound. Any higher form of damage can be 'healed' but will take a moderately longer time which scales to the damage dealt. There are only three (3) known methods to killing her and requiring her to be recreated. She tends to wear nothing...
    She is capable of manipulating living, and inanimate matter, mutating and modifying existing organisms to their utmost extremes and even change it in ways that do not conform with the norm.
    Constantly beside her, is a metallic sphere measuring 0.68 meters in diameter, consisting primarily of nickel-iron alloy. The item is incredibly dense, and weighs approximately 2800kg whilst 'flattened' and can go up to 6000kg if allowed to become 'full'. It seems to float and can be moved upon Surrogate 001's will.

    Nicknamed: Charles

    Gender: Seems to be male

    Age: Unknown

    Description: Charles is seemingly a human male of British decent. He bears the strong accent stereotypically associated with those from Britain.
    His face is mostly covered by his messy facial hair and he has a distinct look of concern whenever someone passes by him. His teeth are missing at certain points. His upper right incisor and canine are absent; on the lower side, he simply lacks his left incisor and pre-molar.
    Charles' clothing consist of a ripped and ragged white t-shirt and similarly ripped cargo trousers all covered by a long black trench coat finished with plain black boots.
    Other unique features about him is his hairless scalp and navy blue eyes.

    Age: Unknown
    Description: She is often described in a humanoid form, with long, sun kissed hair, and deep sea blue eyes, wearing white, or a dress that appears translucent. She is surrounded by an essence of calmness, and is often described as arriving, or being seen (or felt) upon a person's last moments of life.
    Symbol: any body of water, typically the deep waters of the ocean.
    Power: To be determined.

    Eye Color: always changing
    Hair Color: black with a few strands throughout that also change color
    Age: Unknown
    Description: Like the Goddess of Tranquility, the Goddess of Chaos is often described in a humanoid form, though she has been known to take on other forms as well. In her humanoid form, she is described as beautiful, with long black hair, with several strands of hair, as well as her eyes, always changing color. She is usually depicted as wearing black or blood red. Unlike her counterpart, the Goddess of Chaos radiates a chaotic aura.
    Power: The Goddess of Chaos has the ability to grant a mortal the power to kill a God. This power can only be used once. The mortal that it is granted to, has one day to use this power, and it comes at a great cost to the person it is bestowed upon. The cost is determined after the power is used or expires, whether the mortal uses it or not. This cannot be used on the Goddess of Chaos or, strangely enough, the Goddess of Tranquility, since they both inhabit the same form.

    Name: Ex
    Age: Lemniscate
    Sex: Male
    Weapons: Voice and self
    Power (if any): To cause individuals to question the meaning of their existence, to tear and weave the threads of existence, to change form and flow through things
    Special characteristics: A gray humanoid form, without any notable features, until he morphs his body into a weapon.
    Appearance: In addition to his gray form, he maintains a size of only 6'. He does not see excessive size as a way to manifest himself. His weight is nonexistent. His build is lean, and clothes do not matter to him.

    Human Manifestation: Wears an odd cloak, that shifts from a light gray to a dark gray in color depending on the viewer's angle. He does not need to change to a human, since he is already a normal size. If anything, he can form a face and alter his face color to a pale gray. He needs only to cut down his aura and avoid altering existence, and he can still morph his parts into weapons.

    "What is the meaning of existence? I, the Deiity of Existence, know not this answer. For what purpose? Must we make imaginary purposes to direct ourselves? To guide ourselves?
    Everything is nothing."
    Ex's mood varies according to the situation. If evil deities reign, he will become chaotic. If just deities reign, his pain will vanish and he will become friendlier.

    Name: Soverain

    Sex: Male

    Realms: Justice, Fire

    Appearance: In times of war, he appears as a fully armored figure standing at about 6'5" wielding a large sword made of fire that is almost as long as he is tall in his right hand hand. Streams of fire pour out of his helmet's eye sockets and in his left hand he holds a set of golden scales embroidered with the image of the sun, with which he renders judgment upon the accused. These scales have become widely used as his holy symbol by his followers. In times of intense combat, the fire in his eyes and his sword become a slightly smaller but much more powerful blue flame.

    In times of peace, he appears as a tall, muscular human with deep red eyes, skin like bronze and long red hair that seems to glow like a hearth's fire. In this form, he wears a wondrous red and orange robe with the image of a rising sun emblazoned on the front and back.

    Powers: As the embodiment of fire, he is able to both create and manipulate fire without limit. Using his scales, he can pass judgment on others, causing them to be weighed down both physically and mentally by the sins they have committed, possibly rendering them completely immobile depending what sort of crimes they have committed. He can also call upon the power of the sun itself to summon a pillar of fire from the sky, obliterating his enemies.

    [IMG]

    Shooting could be heard from afar, echoing throughout the valley. She lined her sight up to her target and "BOOM" another shot echoed as she hit her target dead on. Satisfied with her shots, she walked over to a nearby bail and unloaded the empty shells only to reload it once again. The sun was beginning to set and it would be soon time to head back to what was once her beautiful home. She set down her gun, only for a moment, to stretch. The kickback made her a little stiff in the shoulders. She often came to this empty field to practice, it was open enough for her to keep her guard up and see all around her in case anyone or anything would appear. After the recent attacks, not many people were left alive in her home town. She took it upon herself to protect the ones who couldn't protect themselves.

    She looked up at the sky, it was the only beautiful thing left to look at. She sighed before pulling the hood up on her cloak and grabbing her gun. She brought her fingers to her lips and let out a loud whistle. A moment later galloping could be heard, upon a hill a black Clydesdale appeared and headed her way. She reached out to pet its nose before nuzzling her horse.
    "Good Girl"
    she smiled before climbing on top of the horse.
    "Lets make our rounds then call it a day"
    She clicked her tongue and the horse started galloping towards a nearby town, or what was left of it. Buildings had scorch marks on them, some were in really bad shape. Only a few were left standing, but were livable. It was what was left from the attack. As she rode through town, a young woman approached her.
    "How is everyone holding up"
    Ella asked. The woman spoke quietly giving her a quick report.
    "I see"
    Ella replied
    "I'll see what I can find tomorrow."
    She looked around, than looked at the sky again, noting the sun would soon no longer be visible.
    "It's getting dark, have everyone stay inside. You know things are worse when it is dark out. If there is any problems you know how to reach me"
    The woman nodded in response then headed back inside. Ella made her rounds then headed to a house located outside of the Village. She dismounted her horse, who headed towards the stables to sleep. Ella cautiously approached the house with her gun at the ready until she made it to the door. Before entering she checked to make sure she wasn't followed.
    Upon entering, Ella took off her black boots and cloak and hung them by the door.
    "Zoe I'm home"
    A few seconds later a door to the upstairs opened, followed by the pitter patter of feet running down the hall. A little Girl about 4 years old came running down the stairs to embrace Ella.
    "what took you so long, it was so scary being in this big house alone"

    Ella knelt down to eye level of the little girl
    "You know I had to make my rounds and make sure it was safe before coming home"
    She brushed back a lock of the little girls blonde hair and tucked it behind her ear
    "Now then, are you hungry?"
    The little girl nodded
    "Ok let me fix you something to eat"
    Ellas stood up and pretended to think long and hard d
    "How does pancakes sound?"
    The little girls face lit up
    "Ok pancakes it is, I managed to get some eggs from the chickens that are left and found some flour from one of the abandoned houses today."
    Ella reached in her satchel and pulled out the eggs, flour and a small jar of milk
    "Lets go make dinner"
    They both headed into the kitchen to whip up their dinner. The house being as big as it was, managed to withstand the attacks. Unfortunately Ella and was the only survivor in the house.
    She looked over at Zoe as she stirred the ingredients in the bowl and gave Zoe a smile.The little girl, even through all that she has been through, still had hope in her eyes.

    Zillis had walked down stairs shortly after Zoe had run down. His steps were clear and in no way alarming. Although it probably didnt stop Ella from Getting defensive. Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs he yawned and scratched the back of his head. Looking around he noticed no one was in front of him but he heard a racket in the kitchen. It was clearly food.

    "Better not have forgotten about me Ella, I guard the place when you're not around. Whether you like it or not. I barely leave this house." Zillis continued walking as he spoke and went into the kitchen. There he saw Ella and Zoe. Zoe was sitting and Ella was cooking. Zillis sat down next to Zoe and smiled at her.

    "That being said. Making sure Zoe is safe isn't ever a bit deal. One day she will have the shot You got Ella, it's better to be that then a freak of nature." he paused a moment.

    "One of these days they're gonna come back to finish the Job, Ella. And our numbers are dwindling. I think it's about time we pack up and move on, bring Zoe somewhere safe. Or bring the war to the king. I know she is Young and may not be certain what is going on. But she needs to understand what's going on. Anywho... How about them pancakes?"

    Ella always kept a gun on her at all times, when she heard footsteps she moved her hand towards the the gun she had in a holster on her hip. When she saw that it was only Zillis she relaxed and continued stirring the mixture.
    "Of course I haven't forgotten about you Zil"
    She smiled
    "You know when I am home you are free to leave, I can take care of things here while you are gone."
    She turned her back to turn on the stove and placed a pan over the flame until the pan was hot enough.
    "I appreciate you keeping an eye on the place and making sure Zoe is safe"
    She started pouring the mixture onto the pan in shape of circles, listening as he continued to speak. She nearly dropped the bowl when he said he thought it was time they packed up and moved on. Deep down Ella knew this was true but at the same time she wasn't quite ready. She turned to face Zillis
    "What about the others, where will they go? They rely on me to keep them safe, I just can't abandon them like that"
    She looked over at Zoe who was playing with a doll on the table and sighed
    "She has been through so much, I don't think I am ready to take her out there where its even more dangerous. At least here I have a better chance to protect her than out in the open"
    She turned and flipped the pancakes, waited a moment and placed them on a plate. She added some syrup and walked the plate over and set it in front of Zillis
    "Your Pancakes"
    she smiled before heading back and fixed herself and Zoe a plate. She helped Zoe get settled in before sitting down herself. She took a bite of her pancake and seemed to be deep in thought, glancing over at Zoe every once in a while.

    As Brad walked up to the front door of his destination, he took one last look around to make sure he wasn't followed. Despite his rather flippant nature, he was actually quite thorough in his searches so he was sure that nobody was following him, but he decided that one last look certainly couldn't hurt. Satisfied that the area was clear, he smiled and let himself in, closing the door behind him before leaving his shotgun on a nearby shelf. Obviously, he had already stowed away his signature gatling gun in a safe place.

    He then heard a small commotion coming from the kitchen and was going to see what was happening, but first he stopped at a mirror to make sure his short black hair was still spiked to perfection. He frowned and his green eyes were filled with disappointment when he saw that the day's work had caused his hair to droop ever so slightly.
    "Man...you know the world's gone wrong when decent hair gel is so hard to come by. Whatever, good enough, I guess."
    He shrugged and made his way to the kitchen. When he walked inside, he saw Ella, Zillis and Zoe sitting down for a meal. He greeted them a smile, open arms and a slightly exaggerated "Whazzup?" It wasn't until right after he did so that he noticed the heavy atmosphere in the room. His bright smile dimmed slightly as he looked at Ella and Zillis.
    "Uh...bad time?"

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Terios quietly followed the patrolling guards, moving from one hiding place to the next, waiting for the most opportune moment to strike. His dark cloak hid him from all but the most watchful eyes in the fading sunlight. Finally, he found an ideal vantage point; a large boat moored at the docks they were heading towards that seemed to be abandoned. Terios saw this opportunity as he scouted ahead of the guards and took advantage, quickly yet quietly making his way there while staying out of sight. He made his way to the ship's bow and fell prone as he watched and waited for his targets to arrive. Soon after, the group of six guards showed up, moving right into his field of view as they intended to make their way past the docks. Terios knew that this was the best opportunity that he could ask for.

    He got up on one knee and pulled an arrow from his quiver; specifically, an arrow that had already been enchanted by his Frenzy spell. He nocked the arrow, aimed carefully and fired. The arrow landed squarely in the guard captain's chest, though it missed any vital organs. This was exactly what he wanted however, as a fatal blow would've prevented what was about to happen next. The rest of the guards gasped and looked around frantically to see where they were being attacked from. They didn't even notice the change in their captain until it was too late. The captain, foaming at the mouth and whimpering as an overwhelming feeling of paranoia and terror plagued his mind, pulled out his flintlock pistol and shot one of his allies in the chest, killing him instantly. "You can't...I won't let you kill me!" he screamed; by the time the other guards realized what was happening, he'd drawn his saber and cut down another man. They backed away from him, trying to talk him down even as their horrified expressions showed the terror the were feeling. One of the guards pulled out a flare gun, intending to signal for help. He took an arrow in his left eye from Terios' bow for his trouble.

    The captain, having lost all sense of reason as he shook violently with tears running down his face, charged at one of the two remaining guards who drew his own saber and fought back. As the other guard drew his sword to lend his aid, his arm went limp in mid-draw and his saber clanged on the wooden floor of the dock. His body then slumped to the floor, revealing an arrow in his back that had pierced his heart. The last guard fought with the captain for some time, but eventually the captain prevailed and cut down his subordinate, leaving him a mentally broken mess as he slumped down to his knees, crying and clutching his head in his hands. At that point, when Terios shot an arrow through his right hand and into his skull, it could have been considered an act of mercy.

    With his self-appointed task complete and all possible threats erased, Terios removed his hood, revealing his almost shoulder-length white hair and his deep red eyes that seemed to gleam in the moonlight.

    Zillis had quickly polished off half of the pancake before Brad walked in. Standing up he grabbed the plate and walked over to Brad. Handing it over to him fork on the plate.

    "You're fine. Brad, You can be involved in the conversation." pausing he walked towards the island in the center of the kitchen and leaned forward looking at Ella. "I know these men, women, and children look at the both of us for protection, and they can come with us. If their army comes through here again we can only hold out so long. We've all got our strengths and weaknesses, but an army is an army and they'll tear this place down. On the road You, Brad and any other person we can recruit would be more than enough. If danger was too high we could hide. If we needed to fight we could. One of us would always protect Zoe. I understand you care for these people, but you have no obligation to them."

    Zillis exhaled as he caught his words again. "Never the less, I cannot force you to do something you don't believe is the right thing to do. Until then I am living in your house under your rules. Besides I was only a lone wanderer when you found me. Now we're friends. I won't leave a friend and Thats for certain." Standing up from his leaning position he smirked towards Ella with an annoyed face.

    "And don't call me Zill."

    Old Man Nejat continued counting as he went up, then back down at a steady pace, "One hundred and ninety eight... One hundred and ninety nine... Two hundred." Rolling over from the push up position, he took a deep breathe of clean, unpolluted air provided by the vast valley. He had heard a gunshot not too long ago yet was unaffected by it - the sound had been too distant for it to be aimed at him, or be close enough for himself to be spotted. He gingerly picked up his staff, standing up to do some of his routine exercises - being a deity didn't mean he would excuse himself of his training. He held the staff with two hands, weaving it through the air in a fashion associated with rowing a boat. Gracefully he transitioned into rapidly rotating the staff between his hands, a heavy gust of air blowing from the sheer velocity of the spin. He continued his exercises until he looked up to see the positioning of the sun - he had other duties to attend to and he needed to be on time. Using the staff as a make-shift cane, he trudged through the meadow, walking towards his small cottage on the outlines of the town.

    He hadn't needed to lock to door before, nor now unlock it seeing as the door itself was no longer on its hinges. The contents of the house was in a messy sprawl, most broken, some of his price artefacts missing. He sighed, looking at the mess - someone must've found him again. He had been told that this was one of the safest towns there was; another lie resurfaced.

    He dragged an undamaged chair from inside to his front garden, sitting on it and waiting. Whoever did this is bound to come back, and Old Man Nejat wasn't going to miss him.

    name: Adolph Schwarzkoph

    power (if any): Wolf kinship (calls and befriends wolves), bullet manipulation (alters path, impact, and/or speed)

    Adolph was found, during the winter, at a young age without parents , surrounded by wolves, and missing his left hand. The people that found him frightened off the wolves, and took him to an orphanage. His memory was gone, and so he was given the name Adolph. As he grew up, he took a special interest in taking longshots, throwing stones at targets that were seemingly to far to hit. Furthermore, his thirst for knowledge grew, and he executed chemistry experiments and studied magic. One day, he felt tired of the orphanage life and left.
    He studied under an interesting man, who showed him how magic can animate things. After learning under the man's teaching, he left with more knowledge and an unmoving metal left hand.
    One day, he got cornered by a group of thugs in an alley, and after 5 minutes of agonizing pain, the thugs died. Adolph seemed to lack the emotions that prevented a person from killing, and a secret talent for it. He took their guns and valuables, sold what he could not use, and left to be a freelance mercenary.
    After working a while, he gathered enough money and studied enough to make a new melee weapon and a custom rifle. As long as it is within range, he can hit the target.

    Edit: I will need to come back and refine this.

    Marie Veronica Elonice - Grand Haven Castle

    "Good afternoon, My Lady," Marie said politely with a small bow. Before her sat a middle aged woman in a very elegant dress.
    "Good afternoon, Miss Elonice," the Queen of Grand Haven responded in a slightly foul tone. Marie took no offence at this, for to do so would show poorly on her character.
    "Is something troubling you?"
    "The Plague," the Queen said simply.

    Marie plastered a grave frown upon her face. "I hear the lowborn refer to it as The Mark of Death. Due to some of the afflicted appearing to have stigmata of Death appear on their flesh." She waited to see the Queen's reaction. The woman didn't disappoint as her scowl deepened at this. "Silly rumors, of course. There are no clues that King Abaddon is involved."

    "Have you not turned up anything then?" Asked the Queen sourly.

    "Nothing yet. As I told you when you first asked me to look into this matter, there may be no evidence to find. Any noble family or ruffian group in association with our vile enemy are very good at keeping themselves hidden. It is more likely that any evidence has long since been turned into ash."

    "So there is no hope then?"
    "Do as your seers tell you, My Queen. I fear this is their domain, not mine. Have they gotten any signs from the Lord of Flies yet?"
    "I do wish you wouldn't speak of the Gods in such mocking terms, Veronica," chastised the queen. Marie gave her a small smile in reply.

    "Moving on to lighter topics of conversation, are your servants ever going to bring us some tea anytime soon?"
    "I swear that's the only reason you bother coming to the castle at all," the Queen laughed bitterly. She was not a very cheerful woman even at the best of times.
    "Your tea is by far much better than mine, Queen Veronica," Marie replied kindly.

    "I utterly despise that woman," Marie said vehemently once in the safety of her own carriage. "Jeremiah! Take me to Madame DeFleur!" A crack of the reins and the horses began their slow plodding towards one of the better places to catch up on gossip.

    Pulling the long wig from her head, Marie revealed the scandalously short hair that she preferred to keep. While inside her curtained carriage, she changed into the clothing she deigned to wear for Madame DeFleur's entertainment. Although she'd had to drink the Queen's dreadful tea, not to mention placating that absolute imbecile, it was time to get back to doing what she liked best.

    Whatever she desired. The true queen was out to mingle with her servants.

    Helen Porter - Whatever the city everyone else is in - Library

    Yet another day of reading. Another glorious day spent deep within the old library. She was way back in a section all about some ancient mathematical formula that she doubted anyone had bothered with for at least a century or more. If she didn't handle the books here with care they would crumble to dust. The particular tomb she was reading had been on a shelf that was concealed by another shelf in the corner. The blocking shelf had been erected directly in front of the other one and she'd had to pull it down to get at the one behind it. This prospect would have alarmed her had everything on the shelves not been decayed into illegibility. Books that couldn't be read may as well not exist. With their knowledge already lost they were nothing more than rotten debris. The horrible racket it made as the ancient timber cracked when it struck the floor made her jump. She waited for someone to come running to see what had happened, but nobody came. So it was with some vexation that she discovered the concealed shelf only had a single book on it. However despite all the other books in the area being damaged quite severely - Whoever had been in charge of this section? If they were still alive they should be flayed for their negligence! - the single large tomb was in seemingly perfect condition. The cover and back was in some sort of musty leather with a binding of gold or some other valuable metal. The clasp that held the tomb together was also of a high quality metal. The cover bore a faded design on it consisting of multiple shapes - Helen could make out a triangle in a circle with other triangles arrayed in a manner that could be depicting a sun them - and what seemed to be a bunch of odd equations written on the shapes and around the border in symbols that held no meaning anymore.

    She picked up the book, surprised at how light it was in contrast to the size of it, and retreated back to her reading table. She had been living in this library for quite a long time. She was unsure how long it had been since her initial employment, but with everyone out fighting against Abbadon a rare few ever ventured inside. Those who did were usually children on dares from their friends. They never defaced any of the books, for which Helen was truly grateful, and were usually quick to leave. A shame really, no one cared about books anymore. It was a sad thing to see so much knowledge be neglected. Although if mankind was extinguished it wouldn't hold much value anyway. She doubted any animals would care for what her kind had discovered anyway.

    Prying the clasp from the tomb, she pulled open the cover. She had no idea how much time had passed, but when she looked up her eyes and head ached awfully. her candle had burned down to nothing yet an eerie glow perfused the bookshelves. She looked around suddenly as a deathly chill gusted down on her from somewhere overhead. A terrible fear gripped her as something cleared its throat behind her. Whipping around to face her fate head on, she stopped when she saw him. An older gentleman stood between two bookcases, he was dressed as someone of noble birth; top hat, cane, and a well tailored suit.

    "My... My Lord," Helen said giving the nobleman a curtsy. "Please forgive me, I hadn't noticed you were there."

    Instead of offering her a greeting or an apology for sneaking up on her and giving her such a fright, he simply stood there studying her. It was then she she realized that she couldn't quite make out his face, enshrouded by the darkness from his hat as the brim seemed a tad too large to be fashionable. His very presence was menacing and the shadows behind him seemed to intensify and pulse with unseen things with every breath Helen took.

    "My Lord, I apologize if I gave any offense..." She said with another curtsy. Oh please don't let him be one of those noblemen. Helen felt herself shudder at the thought, thankfully with the library as cold as it had suddenly gotten her shudder of disgust was hidden by her shivering.

    "My Dear," a voice whispered from behind her, the breath cold on the back of her neck. "You know some books are better left forgotten, don't you? The contents aren't always safe."

    Something cold slithered its way across her stomach and needle-tipped fingers dug into her flesh. Helen screamed as she was suddenly spun about. The nobleman loomed immediately before her, breast to breast. He has no face. Her eyes opened wider as a seam appeared on the smooth flesh of the creature's face and a fanged mouth opened far wider than any human's.

    "That face you're making, my dear," said the nobleman from behind her, between the bookcases like he'd always been since clearing his throat. "It looks absolutely delicious."

    Helen screamed her lungs empty as the monster who held her in its grip darted it's head forward like a snake and tore her face from her skull with its teeth. Helen's scream became a gurgle and then trailed off into nothing.

    Helen came up from her desk with such speed that she toppled her chair and fell onto her back. The chair back splintered under the force and she lay there staring up into the night sky with her breath steaming in panting gasps of terror. Immediately her hands sought out her face and a tearful sob of relief came from her throat when she felt everything in tact. Getting to her feet she looked around herself. She had fallen asleep reading that mysterious tomb that she had found hidden in the far corner of the library. It still sat on the table with the clasp shut, looking no different than it had when she'd set it there.

    Getting back to her feet she straightened out her skirt and strode to the table with determination. Picking up the tomb she dislodged the decaying leaves and dirt that were covering the table. She ran back to the shelf where she'd found the horrid book. Coming up short when she found that the ceiling had collapsed. For several moments she didn't move as her perplexed mind tried to place this new development.

    As Helen stood there in confusion the sound of metal covered footsteps echoed in the still night. Turning around she prayed that it was the local guardsmen, and not the terrible nobleman returning to enact her terrible nightmare. If it was she'd surely faint this time. She shivered as a chill autumn breeze came in from the gap in the wall. Two men wearing midnight black armor stood their with weapons drawn. Their axes were covered with dried blood and their armor showed signs of recent slaughter, still dripping with their victims' gore.

    She had dreamt a monster before, and now she was dreaming Lord Abaddon's knights. A terrible fear overtook her all the same, even in the face of the fact that this was most assuredly a nightmare. The men clanked forward with a slow menace. With a deeply disconcerting chuckle, one of them raised his ax high above his head and began to bring it down as the book in Helen's hands became hotter than a blacksmith's forge.

    Helen returned to her senses wandering the streets of her home city. Her jaw hurt and her throat felt raw, as though she had thrown up recently. As though to prove herself correct, she doubled over and began heaving the contents of her stomach onto the cold cobblestones. Dark reds and blacks swirled alongside grey whites and unidentifiable chunks of meat.

    An eye stared back up at her from the center of the puddle. As she stared at it in stunned horror, it slowly rolled to the side, revealing nothing other than a large bite mark that had removed half of the organ.

    Helen sank down onto her butt and stared at the bloody puddle of her vomit. Her clothes in tatters and covered from head to foot in blood.

    Helen tipped her head back and screamed to the heavens.

    When Zillis handed him the plate, Brad happily obliged and sat down at the table across from Ella, listening in on the conversation as he took a few bites of the pancake. When Zillis finished with what he had to say, Brad turned to Ella and spoke up.
    "You know--"
    Hearing his own slightly muffled voice, Brad finished the bite he was working on before he continued.
    "You know I got your back no matter what you do. If you wanna hit the road, hey, that's fine. But if you think we're safer here then I'm up for that, too."
    He smiled widely and motioned to Zillis.
    "I mean, come on. Me, you and Zilly can handle just about anything, right? So I ain't gonna sweat it too much, just tell me what the game plan is and we'll find a way to make it happen."
    He turned to Zillis with a wry grin.
    "Ain't that right, Zilly?"
    Brad had decided quite a while ago that Ella was "the brains of the operation" so as he said, he was pretty much content to go along with whatever she decided, even with major decisions like this one. He's already an easygoing person most of the time, but even by that standard he had grown to trust Ella's judgment a great deal. Incidentally, he also liked giving Zillis nicknames that he knew he wouldn't like.

    name: Xia Song
    age: 18
    sex: female
    weapons: a multitude of throwing knives
    power (if any): she has the ability to seduce/calm anyone with just her voice.
    special characteristics: Anyone whom knows of her, calls her "Siren", only through the reports of hearing some sort of soothing song, hum, or tune before the death of someone nearby. No one has ever seen her...they have only heard a vaguely familiar song or tune. More to come as time goes on.

    Ella didn't notice Brad walking in until he had taken a seat at the table.
    Zoe on the other hand had ran over and gave Brad a big hug, happy to see he had made it home safely before returning to her seat and finishing her pancakes.

    Ella looked up at the both of them after thinking over what was said
    "Give me a week or two...to make a decision. I need to check on a few things to determine if its safer here than out there"
    She looked over at Zoe, who had just finished her food. Ella smiled and leaned towards her
    "Why don't you head upstairs and play for a little bit, I'll be right up to help you get ready for bed"
    Ella gave her a smile, Zoe nodded
    "Can Brad read me a bedtime story? and I want Zilly zil to listen also"

    Zoe looked at the two and giggled before skipping out of the room and up the stairs
    Ella gave the two of them a questioning look as if wondering if they were gonna do as she asked. When Ella knew Zoe was far enough to not hear she continued
    "I want to make sure traveling with her will be safe or not. I will also speak to those left in the village"
    Ella sat back in her seat and started balancing her fork on the table with one finger
    "I have a feeling they are going to want to stay, several aren't doing so well from what I was informed earlier today"
    She lifted her finger from the fork allowing it to fall on the table
    "I have thought about leaving time and time again, if we didn't have Zoe with us, things would be different. But I vowed to protect her when I found her in the state she was in."
    She looked up at Brad
    "Were you able to find anything while you were out, or gather any info as to where the attacks are taking place now?"
    She then looked at Zillis
    "If we can get an idea as to where the attacks will take place, maybe we can avoid being attacked ourselves. Basically keep behind where the attacks are taken place, when the coast is clear we move in. I think that will be our safest way to avoid being attacked ourselves. We just have to keep Zoe from seeing the results."
    Ella sighed and looked down
    "Don't get me wrong, I haven't decided as to whether I want to leave yet, but if we do so I feel that would be our safest bet."
    She looked back at the two
    "Do any of you have anything you would like to add? After all we are a team and I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we want to keep Zoe safe"
    She leaned in resting her arms in front of her on the table
    "You guys didn't have to take on the responsibility of taking care of her, but I am grateful you both have, its made things a lot easier for all of us."
    She looked at Zillis
    "Without you here...Zil"
    she smirked knowing that always got under Zillis skin
    "I wouldn't be able to do my rounds without having to put her in danger"
    She then looked at Brad
    "And without you Brad, I wouldn't have anyone to read to her at night and help me with the rounds to make sure we have supplies for all of us, with that I thank you both"

    Zillis, mostly tried to ignore Brad and Ella with the comments as he gritted his teeth and looked at the floor. Letting out a sigh, He collected his thoughts.

    "When Zoe does it, its cute. When you two babbling idiots do it. Its annoying." was all he had to say about the issue. "Anyway" collecting himself. "If brad had managed to find some sort of Intel about their next attack or even their routes it would help us greatly, if the kings army ever garrisons here then we will have a tough time in any other city. But if we're on the road it's surprisingly safer then the city. Now-a-days killers are too afraid of an army. I have no concerns about them as you guys can penetrate and I can drain. Brad you've never seen what I can do, Ella has." he paused.

    "You have a week to make your decision. If they come during the week, I guess we'll just have to wipe them out. I can't prevent casualities if they're all outside. So make sure if you see anything or hear anything you tell them to wait inside." he paused again.

    "And Zoe, I will defend Zoe with my life, You both better believe it. She will have great power one day. Hopefully she doesn't get cursed with my abilities... Come Brad she wants to hear you tell a bedtime story. I think she just misses your banshee voice. I know I couldnt ever fall asleep with you in my ear."

    Before Brad could rebuttal he already began walking away and up the stairs to Zoes room. Upon getting inside he say down against the wall and watched over Zoe like he always does.

    Brad couldn't help but laugh at the "banshee" comment as Zillis walked out of the room. Before he could get a reply out, Zillis was already halfway up the stairs so Brad quickly shouted one last thing before he was out of earshot.
    "Tell her I'll be up there in a few!"
    He then turned back to Ella, motioning back to the stairs.
    "It's just too much fun messing with that guy. So yeah, let's talk strategy real quick so I can get upstairs."
    He pulled out a map of the surrounding area and laid it out on the table, pointing out various places as he spoke.
    "Alright, here's the deal. It looks like the king's army is creepin' up on us from the west. See these two alleyways back here? I heard that people have seen a few scouts scoping the place out. So they're not quite here yet, but they're getting closer; whether or not they end up coming through here all depends on whether they start going north or south from the old clock tower, see what I mean? I don't think they'd spread out their troops enough to cover both sides at once. Well...I mean, I can't say that for sure, but that's my best guess."
    He then looked up at Ella.
    "There's something else, too. It looks like they haven't been cracking down on their nighttime patrols as much as they normally would, so if we're gonna make a move pretty soon, we'd have a better chance of not being caught if we go out after sundown. There's just one thing about that, though."

    He pointed to the docks.
    "When I was on my last patrol for the day, I saw something over here at the east side docks."
    His face turned a little more serious than usual.
    "Six of the king's men were patrolling the area...at least I'm guessing they were 'cause the whole squad was dead by the time I got there."
    Before continuing, he reached for his bag and pulled out a flare gun that he "recovered" from one of the guards.
    "These guys are pros, too. They got 'em all before the guards could even fire this off. I'm thinking it must have been the work of the Night Watch."
    He tilted his head slightly, taking a moment to think.
    "Oh yeah...have you ever heard of those guys? They're a group of assassins working against the king's army, picking off patrols and even hitting their outposts in the middle of the night. We should stay clear of them too; I've heard they're stone cold killers who cut right through anyone who looks at them wrong...at least if you believe the rumors that they go after civilians, too. I dunno and I don't want to find out."
    With his explanation of the nights events concluded, Brad folded up his map and put it away, his usual confident smile slowly making its way back into his expression.
    "That's all I've got; pretty crazy, right? I'll probably hit the sack early after I get done with Zoe's bedtime story. Any questions before I head upstairs?"

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    After his encounter with the king's men, Terios headed towards a local pawn shop with some recently confiscated weapons in tow, all packed in a large duffel bag. He headed up to the counter where he was greeted with a smile by the shop's owner, who greeted him with the sort of plastered-on smile that one would give to any customer who walked in the door.
    "What can I do for you today, sir?"
    Terios motioned to the bag hanging at his side.
    "I'm looking to sell."

    "Oh? What are you selling, exactly?"
    "Before we get to that, is your name Marcus, by any chance?"
    The owner's smile grew a little wider.
    "That I am! Did you hear about my shop from a friend?"
    Terios looked around the room, then shrugged.
    "I guess you could say that. I want to sell certain 'items' that shouldn't be seen by the public eye and I heard you were the man to see."

    "Items like...?"
    "Weapons, naturally."

    Marcus raised an eyebrow and his tone of voice sounded much less jovial than before.
    "I see. So you're new to the area, huh?"
    He turned to his assistant.
    "Johnny, lock up, we're gonna be closed for a little while."
    Johnny did as he was told and Marcus looked back to Terios, carefully reaching for something underneath the counter out of Terios' sight. His tone was now deadly serious; his expression followed suit. He spoke in a hushed tone despite the fact that nobody else was around save for his assistant.
    "Before we start talking about that kind of business, I'm gonna need to see some ID."
    Terios reached into his back pocket and pulled out a deck of playing cards. He took out five of them and laid them on the table; an ace of each black suit, an 8 of each black suit and a face-down card. Marcus put away the pistol he had discreetly pulled out and nodded in approval.
    "Dead Man's Hand, sure enough. Follow me to the back."
    With that, Terios picked up his cards and followed Marcus to a more secluded part of the shop to continue their discussion.

    ~~~
    As he ran, there was one thought that kept coming to the fore;
    It shouldn't be like this.
    He'd had a pretty sweet deal in this run down little town. People were so used to their day to day strife that when lifestock was found torn to pieces, they hardly batted an eye. When a few of the townsfolk were found the same way, sure, they'd mourned, but they continued on with their dreary little lives. He had mused at the time that he'd probably be able to get through the entire population before anyone suspected foul play.
    That was until about 30 minutes ago, when that man had smashed down his front door.
    Usually, the kind of people that would be after him would go through this spiel about purging him from this world in the name of some god or another, which tended to give him enough time to at least partly shift and tear out their jugular. This one however...
    This one, on seeing him, had drawn a pistol and shot him in the shoulder, which could have easily been his heart if he hadn't of moved in time. Instead of giving him the chance to recover even a little, the hunter had come charging at him with an axe that looked like it had be dragged from the depths of Hell itself. He'd only barely thrown himself through the window when hunter had launched after him.
    Since then, he'd be running for his life down deserted streets and back alleys looking for any chance for respite from this unrelenting madman. But everytime he'd tried, attempted to shift into his beastlt form, the hunter was there, with a bullet and that damned axe. He took another turn, darting form the main street to a narrow alley. An alley that ended in a dead end.
    He turned around slowly, blood oozing from multiple wounds and weary from fatigue, as the hunter came around the corner.
    As he watched the hunter's blade swing down at him, that one thought occupied his last moments;
    It shouldn't be like this.
    Ella couldn't help but to laugh, it was rather fun to get under Zillis skin with all the nick names. Despite all the bad things going on in the world, it was nice to have a good laugh now and then, at least it helped lighten the mood from time to time. When Brad pulled out the map, she gave him her undivided attention. Hoping to hear some good news
    "I don't know if I would feel comfortable traveling at night if we choose to leave. From what the people in the village have told me, a lot of bad things happen at night. I encourage them to stay indoors to keep safe." She listened on as he spoke more
    Ella seemed a little irritated with this news.
    "So not only do we have keep our eyes out for the kings men and them attacking, we have to keep our eyes out for these night watch"
    She sighed and slumped back in her chair
    "Things possibly cant get any worse than this...could it?"
    She looked over at Brad as he continued
    "Thank you for this new info It seems I have a lot of thinking to do"
    She stood up from her seat
    "Would you mind taking on the task of getting Zoe ready for bed? Have Zil help you as well. I need time to think everything over, I'll be in just in time to hear the end of the story"
    With that she headed up into her room without saying another word. It was obvious she had a lot on her mind and with all this new news, had even more to think upon. She gathered her clothing for bed and headed into her bathroom to shower. This always made her feel better and helped her to relax at the end of the night. Normally she would get Zoe ready for bed and sit in during story time, but tonight was just a tad bit stressful for Ella.
    Before entering the bathroom Ella stood at her dresser, gripping the side of it
    "The world is falling apart around us and I haven't a clue as to what to do"
    She looked up at he mirror at herself and left out a huff of disgust at herself, she pushed herself away from the dresser and proceeded into the bathroom and into the shower. After about 10 or so minutes Ella Appeared at Zoe's bedroom door. She was in the process of drying her hair while listening in on the end of the story. Seeing everyone around Zoe made Ella smile.
    A man was seen running through the streets of the nearby town, he seemed to be running for his life from a man with an axe. One of the Villagers quickly grabbed his gun and chased after the two. He followed them into a dead end. The one guy bloodied and wounded and was about to be struck down by the other guys blade. The Villager aimed his gun and shot it at the standing man. The villager stood there gun in hand and shaking of fear
    "I'll afraid you...need to l-leave"
    Another Villager witnessed everything and decided to notify Ella and the others. She ran to the nearby church and started pulling the ropes to ring the church bells. This was to signal that there was trouble and was close enough that Ella would be able to hear it from anywhere in her house.
    Ella could hear the church bells from the village and her smile instantly faded. She looked up at Bard and Zillis
    "There is trouble, I need to go"
    Ella walked over to Zoe and gave her a kiss on the forehead, she gave Brad and Zellis a look as if telling them if either of them were going to decide now, before she rushed off into her room, she threw her robe on the floor and grabbed her cloak and threw it over her. There wasn't enough time for her to thoroughly change so she would just go in her night gown, thankfully the cloak covered her completely. She grabbed whatever guns she could quickly strap onto herself and ran down the stairs. She started slipping on her boots and grabbed her satchel, she knew if Zellis or Brad was planning to follow her into town they would meet her by the front door.
